Six local restaurants competing for All-Ireland titles

Six Leitrim restaurants celebrated their success at the Connacht Regional Irish Restaurant Awards, and will now go on to represent their county for the national titles at the All-Ireland at Santa Rita/ LIFE Magazine Irish Restaurant Awards 2013.

Six Leitrim restaurants celebrated their success at the Connacht Regional Irish Restaurant Awards, and will now go on to represent their county for the national titles at the All-Ireland at Santa Rita/ LIFE Magazine Irish Restaurant Awards 2013.

The All-Ireland Santa Rita/LIFE Magazine Irish Restaurant Awards will take place on Monday, June 10 in The Burlington Hotel, Dublin, to name and fame the top restaurants in the island of Ireland. The night will see an expected crowd of up to 800 fellow restaurant owners, staff and industry experts gather in The Burlington Hotel to celebrate their hard work and achievements in the run up to the coveted Awards.

Nominated across six categories, restaurants from Leitrim will face competition in a pool of 32 county award winners and a shortlist of Dublin restaurants in each category, kindly sponsored by Santa Rita, Faustino, Joseph Drouhin, Pallas Foods and Tipperary Water.

The 2013 Irish Restaurant Awards are brought to you by The Restaurants Association of Ireland and are kindly sponsored by Santa Rita/ LIFE Magazine. The awards are the largest and most coveted awards in the Irish Restaurant Industry.

The Awards recognise achievement and excellence in the Restaurant and Hospitality Industry throughout the 32 counties of the Island of Ireland in 21 categories and celebrate all aspects of the Industry from Chefs and Restaurants, Cafes and Gastro Pubs, to Food Producers, Local Food Heroes and Cookery Schools.

Nominations for the Awards are made by readers of the Sunday Independent LIFE Magazine and members of the Restaurants Association of Ireland.

The nomination & awards selection process is also independently audited by KPMG to ensure that best practices & standards have been adhered to throughout the process.

The 2013 Awards process will runs until June 10. It is a detailed and thorough process whereby nominated Restaurants face rigorous scrutiny from the Consumer, Regional Judges, a Mystery Guest Visitor and finally the National Awards Academy.

County winners have been announced at a number of Regional Awards in the last six weeks and the All-Ireland Awards will take place on Monday, June 10 in the Burlington Hotel, Dublin.

The following are the local categories in which the six local restaurants are hoping for secure national titles: Best Customer Service in Ireland (The Courthouse Restaurant); Faustino Best Gastro Pub in Ireland Award (The Oarsman); Joseph Drouhin Best Casual Dining in Ireland Award (The Riverbank Restaurant); Pallas Foods Best Hotel Restaurant in Ireland Award (Sandstone Restaurant @ Lough Rynn Castle); Tipperary Water Best Chef in Ireland Award (Shamzuri Hanifa @The Cottage); Santa Rita Best Restaurant in Ireland Award (The Cottage Restaurant).
