The Christmas countdown is on! While the rest of us try to cut back on junk food and get a little more exercise in preparation for the festive season the Get Fit Challengers are looking to knock off another stone each from their weight!

Michelle Reilly, Mary Faughnan and Stephanie McTiernan are kicking up the gears as they prepare for their big reveal at Christmas and we can all see what six months of exercise and healthy nutrition can really achieve.

All three ladies took part in a 5km walk on November 10.

Stephanie McTiernan has lost 2 stone 7 lbs so far and she hopes to see at least another 10 pounds off her weight in time for Christmas! Stephanie took part in the 5km walk recently and although she was not looking forward to it due to her shin splint s she completed it and actually enjoyed it! Stephanie has already felt the benefits of weight loss, having much more energy and feeling a lot happier in herself. Stephanie’s best tips are: keep a food diary to avoid overeating and start each day with the plank exercise to strengthen your back and stomach.

Mary Faughnan has lost 3 stone 2 pound so far and is aiming to have another stone off my Christmas! Mary told the paper she is a lot more confident since losing the weight, she is also fitter and has much more energy. Mary also enjoyed the 5km walk this month and is looking forward to the next one. Mary’s best weight loss tips are to limit yourself to two carbs a day try jogging on the spot during ad breaks on the TV, “If your feeling more active add in a bicep curl while jogging on the spot” she suggests.

Michelle Reilly has lost a very impressive 5 Stone 4 pounds so far and she hopes to also lose another stone before Christmas. “Loosing weight and taking on exercise has had a huge benefit on my life. Since loosing weight I have become a lot more confident and now I really enjoy exercise. I feel physically fit and healthier. I have a lot more energy and also my asthma has improved so much.” Her weight loss tip is to use calorie fry instead of oil when cooking and stick to exercises you enjoy!

The Get Fit Trio will be doing another 5k walk starting at the D& S Fitness Studio, Park Lane Carrick on December 1 at 11am - everyone is invited to join.
