Carrick Rugby Club news

Ladies: Carrick on Shannon travelled to Tuam in the first game of the Connacht Development League on October 3. After ten minutes of play the score line favoured the Tuam Ladies when two missed tackles after a contested scrum saw them make an impressive break scoring under the posts and in turn converting to take the lead 7-0. Carrick on Shannon responded with spirited tackling and scrummaging and were rewarded with a penalty in the first half. The Tuam Ladies responded with another two tries and one conversion. A try and conversion for the Carrick Ladies in the second half was not enough however to see off the strong challenge from Tuam with the Tuam RFC Ladies coming out the winners 19-10. Carrick on Shannon’s next game in the Connacht Development League is against Sligo RFC Ladies. New members are always welcome with no previous experience necessary. Ladies Training takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:30 at Castlecara Road training ground. Further info on the club on our website www.carrickrugby.ie or facebook https://www.facebook.com/carrick.o.rfc.

Best Wishes: Aine Shanley, club PRO and player on the Ladies Team departed the club in September. Aine Shanley was instrumental in the setting up of the Ladies Team, captained the Ladies Team, was heavily involved in fundraising for the club and for the last year held the position of PRO for Carrick RFC. The Club would like to wish her every success on and off the field, and to acknowledge and thank her for her hard work and dedication to the Club over the last four years.
