Carrick on Shannon RFC hosted its first ‘Go to Ground Challenge’ last Saturday as part of a schedule of events aimed at raising funds for our pitch development on the Castlecara Road.

The event was a 5.5km circuit of Carrick-on-Shannon requiring speed, coordination, skill and endurance. Starting with a 2.4km run to our club grounds, participants endured a 600 metre assault course before tackling a 2.5km hill run to the finish.

Congratulations to Tony McEvilly who won Fastest Male, Emily Cullen who won Fastest Female and Team “Bringing up the Rear” who won Fastest Team!

Well done to all who participated, volunteered, and supported in making this a very fun event. Special thanks goes to Paddy McKeon for being the brainchild of this event.
