Minis Team: Carrick Minis & U13s travelled to Sligo IT on Saturday last to play against Sligo Minis Rugby Club.

Although the morning was frosty and the roads were icy, Carrick Minis players with drivers and supporters club (parents!) were on the road early and arrived in Sligo in good time. The numbers were down, which was probably due to the aforementioned road conditions but also to the lucky club members, who had ventured to Aviva to see the national team take on Argentina.
Anyway, although low in numbers in some age groups, this meant some of the Carrick players were mixed in with Sligo teams. At other age levels, there were good numbers with some great displays of skill and experience showing through and a credit to the effort the players are making by learning from their training every Saturday.
The U-11s team played two games against their counterparts and by all accounts played great rugby which resulted in a positive result for the Carrick club.
The U-12s team, with some Under-13s mixed in, started off with a short training session before taking on Sligo Under -12s. It was a great turnout with a 15-a-side team. The game was hard fought. Sligo dominated the first half scoring with two fine tries but Carrick’s superior fitness came through, leading to two late equalising tries
Carrick Rugby Club would like to take this opportunity to thank Sligo Rugby Club for inviting us to their fine facilities at the I.T and for their helpfulness and friendly hospitality and hot dogs for the players. Carrick Coaches would also like to thank Carrick minis Supporters Club, all the parents, who go to great effort travelling to training and blitzes and supporting the club. We also appreciate the parents who take home the jerseys after the Blitzes for washing.
December Subs are now being collected. Please ensure the subs are submitted in an envelope with your child’s name, clearly marked on the front. Envelopes will be available at training.
The order form is now available on the club website on the Youths/Minis page under ‘Important Forms’. A number of parents have completed the form and their order will be available soon. These parents will be notified by email as soon as the order arrives.
Our provisionally scheduled Home Blitz for December 15, will not now be going ahead. We may be able to travel to a club nearby for our last Blitz before we break up for Christmas.
