Carrick Town FC news

Seniors: We played Manorhamilton Rangers in a Leitrim derby League game this morning on the astroturf at Sligo sports complex. Carrick were missing a few regulars through injury and having not played many matches in the last while started slowly and fell behind after 10 minutes. We did not get going at all in the 1st half but still managed to draw level just before halftime leaving the score 1-1 at the break. The performance improved greatly in the second half and we took the lead after 65 minutes with another following on 70 minutes. Carrick were now completely on top and added two more goals to leave the final score 5-1. This win leaves us clear in second with eight games left and promotion to the Super league is in our own hands if the performances keep up. Scorers today were Fergie Daly, Liam McTiernan, Ray Mulvey, Jack De Lacy and Brian O’Donnell. With eight games to play, this win keeps Carrick six points ahead of Glenview Stars who have 2 games in hand. Carrick have a much superior goal difference. On Sunday next, February 24, we are away to Chaffpool in the Foley Cup. Kick-off 11am.
