Senior: Our Senior team played Dromore Villa on Sunday last at the astroturf pitch in Cleveragh, Sligo. Carrick started very slowly with Dromore taking the laed after 10 minutes. Carrick came more into the game and levelled the score 10 minutes later. It was a scrappy game and Dromore took the lead again in the 35th minute. Minutes later Carrick again equalised to leave the score 2-2 at half time.

The second half started with Carrick applying some pressure but Dromore always threatened on the break. Carrick eventually pulled ahead in the 70th minute and went two up ten minutes remaining. However with the clock running down Dromore scored a third and in the last minute of injury time a generous decision gave them a penalty which they converted to leave final score 4-4.

It was probably Carrick’s worst performance of the season but they still should have closed out the game when two goals up. They will need to improve greatly in the coming weeks if they are to have a chance of promotion. Scorers today were Niall Flanagan, Niall Comerton, Brian O’Donnell and Steven Sirle. On Sunday next we are away to top of the table Real Tubber. We need a good result here to maintain promotion hopes despite Glenview having been beaten last weekend.
