In what could be described as cold but excellent playing conditions Carrick Town U-12’s progressed to the semi-finals of the Sligo Leitrim League. Having won this league last year and finishing top of their group Carrick would be deemed as one of the favourites for this year’s title.

The early stages of the game were end to end with both teams creating good chances. Following one of these Sam Barnes gave Carrick the lead with a fine goal. Ballisodare fought back to level when a high ball caught the Carrick keeper unaware and ended up in the net. Carrick’s second goal came moments later with a powerful shot from left back Shane Crowe. Ballisodare tried to get on level terms once again but fine play from backs Jack Flynn, Paul Woods, Paul Keaney and Crowe kept Carrick on track. Further goals followed from Fiachra Henry, Diarmuid Kelleher, Donal Casey and Oisin Bohan left Carrick deserved winners.

It was great to see such a large crowd out to cheer on the lads. Training will continue next Tue and details of semi final to follow as soon as we hear.
