Racing returns to Roscommon as the Lenabane track commences its 2013 schedule next Monday, May 20. First race 6 pm. (could be changed to 5.30 to an eight-race card, decision on Sunday morning).
“Everyone is looking forward to the new season. We have been very busy behind the scenes getting everything in place for race goers,” said Michael Finneran, Racecourse Manager.
Indeed, there has been a number of new additions and upgrading of facilities at the racecourse in recent times. Patrons are advised that the paying car park across the road from the old stiles will no longer be available to the public, as this car park will only be used by officials, owners, trainers and jockeys. The reason for this is to free up room at the top end of the main car park for the public and of course there is no charge to the public for this car park.
Monday’s card is made up of four flat, two chases and a bumper. The loyal sponsors have once again come up trumps for Roscommon with Oliver Hannon, Connolly Red Mills, Kepak and E.B.F. sponsoring as well as new sponsor, Ivan Connaughton Auctioneer. This meeting is traditionally associated with a large number of Kepak customers attending and they add greatly to the atmosphere on the evening.
First race 6 pm. (could be changed to 5.30 to an eight-race card, decision on Sunday morning). The general admission is adults, €13 and Students/OAP €8. Roscommon Race Committee have left in place its Special Deal from last year where for €30 people can purchase admission, race card, two-course meal and a €10 betting voucher.
