Carrick Tennis Club

Sligo Races next Wednesday

The first race of a seven race all National Hunt Card gets underway on Wednesday, May 23, at 5.40pm.

For this fixture we have a Special Social Package costing €15 per person which include admission, €5 Betting Voucher, free pint Guinness or a glass of wine, freshly made Roll, ,usic in the Main Bar after Racing ‘Dino’ a Dean Martin Tribute Show featuring Adrian Cullen.

Membership of the 2012 Sligo Race Supporters Club is still available and can be purchased in advance or on the evening. New members are welcome.

Racecourse Manager, Brian Kennedy, is hoping that the locals will come out in force and support this race meeting given the success of the first meeting of the year where there was an excellent crowd, competitive racing and a great day out was had by all.

Connacht Schools Track & Field in Athlone

The AVIVA Connacht Schools Track and Field Championship Finals will be held at Athlone IT on this Thursday (May 17th) with all Leitrim second level schools having athletes taking part following the Northern Regional in Sligo two weeks ago.

Leitrim Athletics Team events Finals tonight

The Leitrim Under 9, 10 and 11 Team Competitions will be held in Carrick on Shannon (Summerhill) on this Wednesday evening at 7 00 p.m. with entries taken at the start. Three teams will qualify from each event for the Connacht Finals in Galway on Saturday June 9th. The events are- Under 9 (born 2004) 60m, 300m, Long Jump, Ballthrow; Under 10 (born 2003) 60m, 500m, Long Jump, Ballthrow; Under 11 (born 2002) 60m, 600m, Long Jump, Ballthrow.

Each team consists of two athletes and each does two events with results based on aggregate performances.

Carrick-on-Shannon Athletic Club

Best of luck to all our athletes in action tomorrow in the Connacht Schools Track & Field in Athlone. Those in action include Sorcha McGwynne, Eanna Madden, Molly Crossley, Dara Morahan, Elise Bruen, Stephen McDermott, Callum Whelan, David Bruen, Cathal McElgunn & Daire Farrell.

The Leitrim Track & Field championships will be held in Manorhamilton next Sunday, May 13, at 2.00 with entries taken from 1.30. There are events for U-10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16 and Over 16. Anyone intending on competing must make their own way to Manorhamilton.

Jimmy White for Drumshanbo

The Leitrim Pool Association will celebrate the official opening of their pool hall in Drumshanbo with an exhibition by the peoples champion and snooker legend Jimmy ‘The Whirlwind’ White. It takes place in the Lough Allen Hotel and Spa on May 21, at 7:30pm. Along with the pool exhibition, a number of audience members will be drawn to pitch their pool skills in a frame against the whirlwind. Also you can get autographs and pictures on the night.
