Leitrim Sports Partnership in association with Leitrim’s County Athletics Board have organised a women’s 5k run/walk/jog in Carrick-on-Shannon on Wednesday, May 22, at 7.30.
This is the second running of the event, having been successfully held in Ballinamore last year, and organisers are expecting a lot of participants from all over the county to take part in this exciting event.
The event was the brainchild of the Leitrim Athletic County Board in 2011 and enthusiastically taken up by Leitrim Sports Partnership and funded by the Irish Sports Council. This inaugural event will attract women walkers, runners and joggers. The objective of this event is to create a fun day, for mothers, daughters, sisters and friends.
Leitrim Sports Partnership will be encouraging all women in Leitrim to get out, get fit, and have fun in each other company at this fantastic event
The 5k race is open to serious athletes, fun runners and walkers. It can act as a major fundraiser for charities especially local charities. It is hoped that Leitrim’s Women 5k Open Race will become a major event in Leitrim Sports Partnerships and the Leitrim Athletics County Board calendar of events in to the future.
The entry fee is €10 per person and the registration will be in the Carrick Sports complex from 6.00 – 7.30 on Wednesday, May 22. Entrants must be over 16 years of age and for further information, please contact the Leitrim Sports Partnership on 071 9650498 or email firstname.lastname@example.org or for online registration:womens5krun.leitrim.ie.
