Leitrim 60x30 Championship: The Leitrim 60x30 Championship came to a conclusion last week-end with Martin Raftery doing the double taking the senior and doubles title defeating Ed Lee in the singles, and teaming up with Dessie McKeever for the doubles defeating Jamie Murray and Francis McDonagh. The 60x30 singles final pitted the recently crowned All-Ireland Golden Masters B champion Ed Lee against last year’s All-Ireland Junior B Doubles Champion Martin Raftery in a very tight final. Martin Raftery took both games on a score line of 21-14, 21-16.

The 60x30 Doubles decider saw last year’s All-Ireland Junior B Doubles champions Jamie Murray and Martin Raftery on opposite sides with Murray linking up with Francis McDonagh and Raftery paired with Dessie McKeever. In two very tight games Raftery and McKeever claimed victory to lift the Cassidy-Heeran cup which was presented by John Cassidy and Noelle Clinton.

In the Leitrim 60x30 Junior Championship Francis McDonagh took the title defeating Dessie McKeever in another very tight final on a score line of 21-18, 21-16.

Connacht 60x30 Juvenile B Championship: The 60x30 Connacht B Juvenile Championship was played off at the week-end in Cooloney and Ballymote with Leitrim taking u11 Doubles and u12 singles titles. Eoin McLoughlin and James Wrynn took the u11 Doubles title with a comprehensive victory while Oisin McLoughlin won the u12 singles. Leitrim was also represented by Fergal McLoughlin u11, David Wrynn u13, Michael Wrynn u15, and Sean Leydan u17. Well done to all who took part.

Cavan One Wall Tournament: St Pat’s Handball Club in Cavan hosted a one-wall tournament at the week-end with competitors using it as preparation for The World Championships taking place next month. Taking part from Fenagh Handball Club were Conor McKeon, Tom McKeon, Aaron Scollan, Cormac Scollan, Jarlath Scollan, Alan Wrynn, David Wrynn and James Wrynn.

Fenagh Handball Club Draw: Fenagh Handball Club are running a fundraising draw with a first prize of a holiday for two in Dubai and two prizes of trips to Manchester United with flights and accommodation. FAI Kick-Start 2 course

The FAI and Leitrim County Council are running a Kick Start2 Soccer Coaching Course for coaches and parents at Leitrim County Council offices in Carrick-on-Shannon on Friday, Saturday, Sunday October 26, 27 & 28. The course is designed to assist coaches in the development of the player’s (aged 9-12 years) soccer specific and FUNdamental movement skills in game related functions, progressing into small sided games. The KS2 course will start on the Friday from 7pm till 10pm; Saturday from 10am till 5pm and Sunday from 10am till 5pm.

All participants are asked to wear a tracksuit and runners/boots to participate in all activities showering facilities available. Coaches must be over 16 and have completed Kick Start 1 to be eligible to participate in the above course. Leitrim Darts

A large crowd attended the Thresa McCabe memorial fundraiser in the Poor Scholar Ballinamore on Friday night last after a great night of darts, L. Aldridge emerged victorious to claim the magnificent marble trophy, getting the better of M. McGirl in a well contested final. Semi-finalists were P.J. McCaffery & Leo (the lion) Mitchell.

Fundraiser: We ask everyone who has sponsopship cards for our racenight on Sunday, September 30, to make a big effort this week & return all cards to Treasurer. Christy for round seven of the Carrick Taxies singles leauge at Shortt’s on Sunday as we need time to produce race programmes for the big night.

Carrick Taxies: The Singles leauge was staged in Nitelinks Mohill on Sunday, thanks to Gerry Faughnan for his sponsorship of the night. Three newcomers on the league table, G. McDermott & C McDonald beaten semi-finalists and M. McGirl runners-up but the winner was L. Aldridge, the form man at the moment. There are now 16 players on the league table with Liam way out in front. There is a great battle developing for the remaining seven places with B Kelly in second place on four points, there are three players on three points, three more on two points and eight on one point each. All to play for over the next two nights even if your not on the leauge table at the moment, see ye all next week in Shortts. Well done to B Kelly winner of our pick a double fundraiser.

Grange 10Km Road Race

The Grange 10k now in its 23rd year will take place this year on Sunday October 7, with a 12.30 start for the walkers and 1pm for the runners. There will be prizes for the first six individuals male and female, vets prizes three over 40, two over 50 and one over 60. There are three team prizes for male and female with four club registered athletes to score on a team, three prizes for junior men and women, local prizes and spot prizes. This year the race will have chip timing so athletes will have their times texted to them within five minutes of completing the race. Entry is on for €14 or €15 on the day of the race in the Sports Centre from 11am. Changing, showers, tea and sandwiches will be available in the Centre after the race.

Carrick Tennis Club

Friday tournament for 10-18 year olds running every Friday from 6.00 to 7.30. Cost is €2 per week for members. Membership is €15 for juniors. Members evening every Tuesday 7-9pm. Mohill Equestrian news

Sunday last saw the opening round of the All-Ireland Inter-schools Showjumping competition in Moorlands Equestrian Centre hosted by Mohill Community College. A great day’s jumping was had by all with the Mohill finishing second in the open team event. Well done to Cian, Shauna, Mollie & Tadhg. Our second team competed in the novice team event and did very well against competition from eight other novice teams. Well done to Caoimhe, Cora, Mollie and Shauna. The Open Individuals was won by Mohill Community College’s Shauna McCrann putting her first points on the board with Tadhg Mulligan finishing sixth. Well done to Heather Maxwell who competed on the day. A great day’s jumping was had by all. We would like to thank everyone who helped out on the day, especially Christine Shanley, Alan Lynch and Moorlands Equestrian Centre.

North Roscommon AC

Athletics will resume for all 2012 Members only on Wednesday, September 19, at usual times of the 6 pm & 7 pm groups and the Friday group at 6.00 on September 21, in Boyle Sports Complex.

Fit for Life Members will resume on September 19, at 6 pm. This year we hope all our walkers will get fit again and that some of you will progress to Running in groups. Talk to Damien on 0863942388. Breffni Challenge

The Breffni Challenge 10K & 20K Walk, Run or jog in Carrick/Jamestown area will be next Sunday, September 23, at 11 am.
