An event of major interest will take place in the Bee Park Community Centre on Saturday night, May 21, at 8.30pm when Manor Rangers stages a mammoth White Collar boxing tournament involving some notable personalities in Manorhamilton and the surrounding area.

This White Collar boxing tournament is being run as a fundraiser for the development of the two new Astroturf pitches in the former McGowan’s field, which is adjacent to the Bee Park soccer pitch.

Manor Rangers has been granted full planning permission to go ahead with the development but the provision of finance is now a most urgent requirement to get the project underway. It is hoped the White Collar boxing tournament will get the ball really rolling in providing the necessary funds to begin work.

When the Astroturf pitches are developed, they will provide excellent facilities for all members of the local community to train on for all sporting endeavours or to participate in regular recreational activities. With the inclement weather that is often a factor, it is often not possible for players in many sports to train due to waterlogged pitches.

All who wish to train when there is a period of heavy rain, etc., will not be prevented from doing so, which certainly will end forever the frustration felt by all sportsmen and sportswomen in such circumstances. Manor Rangers are fully committed to making the Astroturf pitches, when they are developed, available to all members of the community in the Manorhamilton/north Leitrim area including sports clubs, schools, etc.
