The October Independent Qualifying competition of the 2012/2013 Kingspan National Pike Championships will be held next Sunday (14th) on the Shannon at Castleconnell.

Interested anglers should check in at the Riverside car park at Castleconnell from 9:30 for fishing 11 to 4. The entry fee is E15 and there is an optional pool for the best pike (top 3).

To enter you must be a member of one of the 65 clubs affiliated to the Irish Federation of Pike Angling Clubs. If you aren’t a member of one of thoese you can join one at the check in for E10. The top 5 anglers from each of 10 independent qualifiers go through to fish in the Final.

The winner of the Final will become the Kingspan National Champion and will captain the top 10 from the Final in an International Team Challenge which will be held in England.

The Federation will cover the cost of flights, hotel B&B, coaches, permits and presentation dinner for each team member. In addition each team member will get 150 pounds to cover meals etc. The trip is from a Thursday to Monday.

We will be fishing a lovely stretch of water by kind permission of the ESB. The water levels there are controlled as there is a dam upstream. This is a great venue and produces well. It is well patrolled by ESB and IFI production staff.
