With the nominations for this year’s Leitrim Sports Star Awards set to be revealed next Wednesday, the Leitrim Observer has teamed up with the Sports Partnership to recognise the contributions of the county’s unsung heroes.

Every parish, town and club have their unsung heroes who give so much of their time and effort and all without thought of reward or acclaim and the Leitrim Sports Partnership Unsung Award, in association with the Leitrim Observer, wants to recognise these local heroes.

We’re asking the people of Leitrim to nominate someone they think deserves recognition for their “unsung” contribution - we’re not looking for officials or participants, rather we want to recognise the incredibly dedicated supporter who travels everywhere to cheer on their team.

Or the person who, without fail and in sunshine or rain, is there with water on the sidelines, who washes the jerseys far away from the sight of the maddening crowd or sells lotto tickets to keep the show on the road.

We’re looking for nominations before next Monday, November 10, at 10 am and we will publish a short-list in next week’s Leitrim Observer, asking the public to vote on who they believe should receive the inaugural Leitrim Sports Partnership “Unsung” Award, in association with the Leitrim Observer.

You can nominate on Facebook, on Twitter or email us at sports@leitrimobserver.ie before Monday, November 10, at 10 am.
