Leitrim Village ‘Fitkids’ celebrate Danny’s business launch with school party

Fun and fitness were the two big lessons of the day for the second class pupils of St. Joseph’s National School when Leitrim and Mohill football star Daniel Beck brought his “FitKids” programme to the Leitrim Village school.

St. Joseph’s was the lucky winner of the competition advertised in the Leitrim Observer some weeks ago designed to launch Leitrim footballer Danny Beck’s new business Fitkids.

Danny has just taken out a franchise with the innovative and exciting Irish company ‘Fitkids’ which offers specialised fun educational fitness class programmes for children from the age of two years up to 12 in schools, clubs or in your home as well as offering multi-sport camps and active-themed parties.

All second class pupils in Leitrim primary schools were invited to enter the competition by composing an email explaining why they should host and participate in the Danny’s launch party. “We had some great entries,” explains Danny, “but Leitrim Village just came out on top. I guess fitness and fun was at the front of the minds following their great Junior championship final win.”

As a result the second class pupils enjoyed a 45 minute fun and active ‘GAA All Star party’ in their school with Danny and some additional Fitkids instructors putting them through their paces as our photographs show.

While fun is a key aim, Fitkids is the only kids’ exercise programme that develops all six fundamentals of fitness. Using state-of-the-art equipment, qualified Fitkids instructors provide a safe platform for children to learn movement and gymnastic skills, enjoy tumbling and agility obstacle courses, and experience multi-sports skills and fun active games.

The Fitkids Gymnastic & Movement skills programme – which teaches all that’s required and more of the PE gymnastic strand of the curriculum – is now being taught in many schools throughout the country.

Danny, one of the ambassadors for the GAA’s Cúl Camps in Leitrim last year, said that gave him the confidence and boost to move his career into some areas he loves – health and fitness and working with kids. Danny has received support from the Leitrim County Enterprise Board and Leitrim Development Board in this venture. Big thanks have to go to Mike Feeney and Colin Regan also they have done so much behind the scenes.

“I’ve had a lot of interest since the article in the Observer and my Facebook page has also generated a number of party requests too. I’d like thank everyone for their support to date and those who came out to support us in Leitrim Village, all the schools that entered the competition and especially everyone at St. Josephs National School Leitrim Village for their warm welcome and participation last Friday,” said Danny.

In addition to school events, Danny’s Fitkids offers fun after-school multi-sports classes for children, private parties in the home, and specialised fun fitness camps. Fitkids themed parties include army, super-heroes, GAA all-star, Soccer-stars, and more.
