Leitrim Darts news
The Swan Bar (sponsored) eight nigth final played on sun night was an otstanding success with a large crowd pesent to witness a superb night of top class darts played in a great atmosphere for €720 prize fund and Leitrim ranking points.
The first quarter-final saw L. Aldridge triumph over newcomer A. Smith. next up was Irish No 1 lady Olive McIntyre against the back in form Ray Mulvey with Ray coming through. Then we had the game of the quarter-finals, father v son with Eugene McDermott Jnr winning 4-3 after a thriller. Our two top throwers clashed next with R Blain coming through after a tense battle against C Mulvey.
The first semi-final pitted L. Aldridge against R. Mulvey with Ray winning a highly compettive game. In the second semi, Rory Blain got the better of E McDermott in another absorbing game.
The crowd were now buzzing with anticipation and they were not disapointed in the best of 11 final. It reached three all with all games going against the throw. Both players held their throw to make it four all, the ninth leg saw Rory captialise on Ray’s failure to finish and he went on to win the tenth leg with the throw and claim first prize of €250 and eight ranking pts.
Both players produced great scores and superb finishes in the final and the whole night was a great advertisment for local darts well done to everyone concerned.
We now take a Summer break and hope to resume the weekend of July 5, with the Carrick Taxis sponsored Tourament.
