Festival of Pool: All roads for pool enthusiasts lead to the South Court Hotel, Limerick on this weekened for the Irish Championships and Inter County Tournament combined. The Leitrim Senior Men’s team will play Mayo and Westmeath B with the top two teams in that group to qualify and play in the last 16. Leitrim’s first round match start this Friday at 9am when they play the losers of Westmeath B v Mayo and play the winners of Mayo v Westmeath at 10pm on Friday night. On the senior team are four Junior players: Jamie Gaffney, Daragh O’Shea, Keith Conlon, Enda O’Shea with Wayne Kilmartin, Mark McEvoy, Hugh Kielty, Gavin Donnelly, Nial Sweeney, Colin Crossan- captain, Daragh McQuaid and John McKenna. John Casey is team manager.

Ladies: The LPA are pleased to announce a Ladies team to take part in the Inter County Pool Tournament to be held also this weekend at the same venue. Taking part will be Maggie Brolly and Judy O’Brien from Drumkeerin with Jane Cowley from Fenagh to complete the team. Liam Shanley and David Flynn are joint managers. Playing in a round robin situation the team play their first match on Saturday at 9am to Fermanagh, Weford at 5pmand Meath play Leitrimt 10pm with the final session on Sunday at 9am between Cavan and Leitrim.

Irish Championships: The singles of Ladies and over 50s are at 9am on Sunday morning. The LPA wish all participants the very best of luck in a very busy weekend of pool. Players are reminded to clock into the Maldron Hotel, Limerick for their accomdoation.

Church Gate Collection: The LPA Church Gate Collection will be held on June 8 & 9. Please give generously.

Volunteers needed for Rock the Boat

Stewards are being sought to help organise next Sunday’s Carrick Rock the Boat Guinness Book of World Records attempt as part of the Carrick 400 Festival. Stewards will simply have to observe a group of no more than 50 people, and encourage them to continue ‘dancing’. At the end of the event stewards are required, by Guinness, to fill out a very short report of what they did on the day. This report takes no more than two minutes to fill in. The stewards will only be required for about two hours on Sunday, June 2, from about 4:30-6:30. Carrick Carnival Tennis

Carrick Carnival 400 fun Tennis blitz’ will take place on Saturday, June 1, at 2pm in Carrick Tennis Club. All teams /singles of all player levels are welcome to participate. Entry fee is €10. Late entries can register on Saturday at 1.30. Enquiries to Marion on 086 8211019.
