Do you want to up skill yourself, your staff, tea chers, coaches, volunteers on how to include people with a disability in your sports, recreation or physical education sessions?
The Leitrim Sports Partnership will be hosting a Disability Inclusion Training Course on Saturday, December 8, from 9:30-3:30 in Leitrim Gaels Community Facility.
This six hour course is designed to give coaches, volunteers, development officers etc. the ideas and inspiration to adapt their sessions to make them more accessible for participants with a disability. It is a theory and practical course that covers terminology, barriers to participation, legislation and guidance and an introduction to disability sports and ways of adapting activities to make them inclusive.
“People with Disabilities want to participate in sports and physical activity for all the same reasons as those who do not have a disability” says Declan Boyle, Sports Coordinator,Leitrim Sports Partnership .
