32 counties in 24 hours for Kilmore GAA club

Challenge 24/32 is an exciting challenge been undertaken by four members of Kilmore GAA Club who are undertaking the challenge in aid of the Irish Cancer Society.

Challenge 24/32 is an exciting challenge been undertaken by four members of Kilmore GAA Club who are undertaking the challenge in aid of the Irish Cancer Society.

The challenge is to drive through the 32 counties of Ireland in 24 hours and will begin in Kilmore, Co Roscommon on Friday, October 25, at 11pm and will hopefully end in Kilmore before 11pm on Saturday, October 26. All money raised from the challenge will go to the Irish Cancer Society.

In each county the team hope to meet with a politician or a GAA player who will present the team with a flag from that county. Already TDs such as John O’Mahony, Willie O’Dea, Finian McGrath, Stephen Donnelly and many more have pledged their support to the 24/32 Challenge.

The challenge is being undertaken by current club chairman Brian Carroll, assistant secretary Clare Caslin, treasurer Gary Vesey and finance committee member Trevor Hunt.

Brian is also a current member of the backroom team with Roscommon senior football team while Clare is a national school teacher in Annaduff school. Gary is a medical nurse working at Sligo General hospital while Trevor is also involved with foroige in the parish as well as the parish council.

All four know people affected by cancer and are delighted to help out.

The Challenge 24/32 team are currently in talks with a high profile car sales company who it is hoped will be the official sponsor of the car for the weekend. The Challenge 24/32 team are also in talks with numerous people in connection to individual sponsorship for the day of the challenge.

The Challenge 24/32 is also been run in conjunction with an “Move more, Eat Less” health challenge been ran by Kilmore GAA club in the parish for the 8 weeks building up to October 25. The 1st weigh in and talk takes place on Tuesday, September 3, at 8pm in Kilmore GAA clubrooms. The challenge is to loose 32 stone as a group in the parish, one stone for every county that the 24/32 challenge team will be travelling.
