Keeldra Lake re-opens for swimming

Keeldra Lake, outside of Mohill has been re-opened to the public for swimming following a recent inspection.

Keeldra Lake, outside of Mohill has been re-opened to the public for swimming following a recent inspection.

The results of an inspection taken on July 31 has allowed Keeldra Lake, a popular swimming lake to be re-opened to the public as there is no more algal bloom found in the water.

In July, Leitrim County Council identified an algal bloom on Keeldra Lake, which could have been harmful to humans and animals and closed the lake to the public.

Humans and animals were advised to stay away from the water as ingestion could cause health problems such as skin rashes, vomiting and diarrhoea.

Any further queries on this subject should be made to Leitrim County Council’s Environmental Hotline on 1890 205 205.
