At this time of year, fishing used to be in full swing with overseas anglers here for the May fly fishing. Very few if any can be seen locally at the moment.
Aughavas-born priest on TV
Former Aughavas-born native Fr. Nigel Charles was the subject of a TG4 TV documentary series that was broadcast last week. The programme was dealing with the time that he spent in England working with Irish emigrants that had left Ireland many years ago and also with the new influx over recent years. It was an interesting programme showing the plight of our emigrants and how they were coping. Fr. Nigel is now based in Longford Town for some years and is the son of Vincent and Kathleen Charles from Drumbinish, Corriga, Aughavas.
