Bard in the Woods

Bard in the Woods

“Bard in the Woods”, a group encouraging public use of Ireland’s state owned forests, will have a local walk on 7th April in Glenfarne Demesne.

We combine walking with a picnic and some pauses for poetry read aloud. It’s free and all are welcome. Here are the details: Glenfarne Demesne, Sunday, April 7, 3:00pm – 5:30pm.

Walk and Picnic In The Woods meet at 3:00 pm at the Lough side car park by the pier. See the Lough, sculpture, dolmen and Badger’s Holy Well. Contact John Willmott - ‘phone 086 208 2873 if you would like more details or for directions/maps.

Dancing Diary Dates

All roads will lead to Ireland’s original “Ballroom of Romance”, Glenfarne at this year’s 44th Glenfarne Gala Festival starting on Thursday, 1st August and running until Monday, 5th August.

Some of the highlights of the festival will be the brilliant Nathan Carter and his band dance on Thursday, 1st August; also dancing to the legendary Philomena Begley and her band “The New Rambling Men” on Sunday, 4th August.

‘Strictly Come Dancing’

A fun night of Musical Bingo and ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ on Saturday, 6th April in the Lough Allen Hotel, Drumshanbo. Tickets available from: Lough Allen Hotel, Tina 086 8171770, Anna 086 1652549. Doors open 8.30pm.

The Course will commence in late April on a Thursday and Friday morning from 10am-1pm. Course content: Communications, Mathematics, IT Skills, Computer Applications, Desktop Publishing, Word Processing, Work Experience.
