Aughavas Gathering The Aughavas Gathering weekend will take place on Friday 9 August to Sunday 11 August 2013. A number of events are being organised in the parish which include, access to details of Church records for families from 1800 onwards and the marking of family plots in all the graveyards in the parish. School roll books from the many schools in the parish will also be on display.

The Aughavas Gathering weekend will take place on Friday 9 August to Sunday 11 August 2013. A number of events are being organised in the parish which include, access to details of Church records for families from 1800 onwards and the marking of family plots in all the graveyards in the parish. School roll books from the many schools in the parish will also be on display.

The Blessing of the Graves also takes place this weekend. There will also be drama and music in the Community Centre, art and craft exhibition and workshops, football and family fun day in the GAA park and Aughavas 1963 Leitrim Championship winners Re-union. Exhibitions of photographs and memorabilia on the bygone era of country shops and dance halls in the parish will be on display.

If you have any old photographs or memorabilia we would love to hear from you. The memorabilia will be copied and returned without delay. Fun Run/Walk

A 5K walk and 2K Fun run, walk and roll in memory of the late Howard Cusack and Sr Emmanuel Farrelly will take place next Sunday 26 May at 12.30pm. The event will be launched by Alan Devine (Louie from Fair City) and dramaclub.ie and Andy McGovery, author of “Against the odds”. Entry fee €10 per adult, €20 for families. All ages welcome. Medals for everyone who completes the route along with spot prizes and refreshments. For more information contact the office on 071 9651000.

May Run Walk or Roll

The Annual May Run Walk or Roll in aid of Cancer Research / North West Hospice will take place next Sunday26 May 2013 starting from Aughnasheelin Community Centre at 4pm. Entry Fee €10. Sponsorship cards on request – contact Cáit at 0872123703.

Join the walk and you will not only support a good cause but you will also bring your friends and families together for a great fun afternoon. If you can’t walk you can still donate onhttp://www.mycharity.ie/event/may_walk_run_or_roll/or by contacting the above number. If you’re donating but not walking why not join us for refreshments in the Community Centre following the event.

Table Quiz

A table quiz will be held this Friday night, 24 May at 8.30pm in Prior’s Ballinamore. Table of four €40. Proceeds in aid of McCartin School of Dancing Trip to UK Championships. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Margaret’s Hooley

‘Margaret’s Hooley - a night of entertainment in aid of Margaret of New Orleans Birthplace will take place next Friday night, 24 May 2013 in the Corn Mill Theatre, Carrigallen. This is a podium for young emerging talent, and experienced performers to take to the stage in Hooley style. Artists performing include Seamus O’Rourke, Gus Ward, Karl McCartin School of Irish dancing, Finnegan Family school of Irish music and their students, Padraic Lynch school of music and his students, John McCartin, Kevin Patrick (Brennan) poetry, Drama by LYTC Carrigallen, Carrigallen Writers Group Margaret Maguire, Charlie Farrelly Club performers, Maria Mathews and Jack Williamson, Kate Reilly, Elizabeth Doonan, Angel of the Delta Choir, and much more.

Film Hour in Ballinamore Library

On Tuesday next 28 May at 7.30pm as part of its season of films, Ballinamore Library will show “The Life of Pi” This academy award winning film should be of interest to both young and old. Remember admission to the film is free and all are welcome. So go along sit back and relax while watching this lovely film on big screen.
