Tidy Towns / Festival 2013 A meeting will be held in St. Joseph’s Centre on Thursday night, May 23rd at 8.30pm. The village is looking good but we need to discuss planting new trees and flowers in boxes. Also discussed will be a summer festival, all businesses are to come along and show their support for this event.

Leitrim Village community alert

Meeting in St. Joseph’s Centre on Thursday, 30th May at 9pm, in conjunction with launch of text alert scheme. All interested are asked to attend in support of this very important venture.

Confirmation

Congratulations to all the pupils from St Joseph’s National School who were confirmed on Thursday, 9th May in St Mary’s Church by Bishop Colm O’Reilly.

Communion

Best of luck to the children from the area who are making their First Holy Communion on Saturday in St Joseph’s Church, Leitrim Village at 12 noon.

Community Games

Over the last few weeks saw a busy schedule of various Community Games sports taking part. Many children from the area had success in the various sports.

On this Saturday morning the Carrick Area Boys take part in the 5-a-side All Ireland finals in Athlone having won the Connacht title a few weeks ago. Representing the Leitrim Village area are Donal Casey, Stephen Goldrick and Rory O’Brien. Hope Donal and Stephen enjoy their helicopter ride home from Athlone for Communion Mass at 12 noon.

Well done to the Carrick area U-13 Boys Basketball team who won the County Final against Ballinamore. Team members, Matthew Earley, Stephen Goldrick, Tom Durkin, Donal Casey, Mark Diffley, Cian Farry, Edward Rice. Jack Matthews, Ruraí Morgan.

Last Friday evening saw the Carrick Area U-10 Gaelic Football team crowned County Champions when they over came the Drumshanbo Area team in Drumshanbo.

Representing the Leitrim Village area on this Team were Oisin McCabe, Robbie Casey, Jack Graham, Brían Goldrick. Also on Friday eve the Carrick area U-12 boys won the county title in the soccer.

Congratulations and well done to the Community Games Committee foe running these games year in year out for the young sports boys and girls in the area.
