Death

The people of Kiltubrid were very sorry when they heard the sad news of the death of their former P.P. Fr. Michael Killian, formerly of Fermoyle, Lanesboro, Co. Longford on May 17th 2013 in St. Patrick’s Hospital, Carrick-on-Shannon. The removal took place last Sunday, May 19th to St. Brigid’s Church, Kiltubrid. Funeral after 11 o’clock Mass on Monday to local church grounds. Sympathy to his sister Carmel Stanley, Canada, sister-in-law Nora, family, relatives and neighbours in Gowel and Drumcong. May his soul Rest in Peace.

Community Games

Drumshanbo Area under 10 gaelic team made it to the County Final and the game was played off last Friday, 17th May in Allen Gaels pitch. Unfortunately the Carrick Area team proved to be stronger on the day and will go on to Connacht now. We wish them the best of luck. We also wish to congratulate our boys and girls who played their best and showed great determination. A word of thanks to their coaches too. Over thirty athletes headed to Manorhamiton last Sunday, 19th May for the county finals in track and field events. Well done to all who took part. Futher details and results will be available next week.

Finally, we want to wish all our winners from Leitrim who are heading to Athlone next weekend, 24th-26th May for the Community Games national finals. The following children will represent their county in the various sections: Kellie Griffin, Claire McKeon, Rabecca Moran and Arina Kuzmiceva are in the singing group, Eadaoin Lee and Iarlaith O’Brien are both in the art competition, David Gallagher in the model making, Fionn O’Brien, Barry McWeeney and Diarmuid McKiernan are all in a mixed distance relay, Laoise Fee and Jack Hearle in swimming. Unfortunately Jack is unable to take part due to an injury he sustained after his county final in swimming. We wish you a speedy recovery and hopefully you will get there this time next year.

The very best of luck to all our participants and hopefully you all achieve your potential for your competition.
