An Bord Pleanala has refused permission for a Tesco development in Manorhamilton because of road safety concerns over a proposed five-arm roundabout junction accessing the site.
In May this year, Leitrim County Council granted conditional planning permission for the development which included the construction of a single level retail store with a gross floor area of 1,534sqm. The permission also included the creation of a subsidiary alcohol sales area, staff facilities, an ESB substation, ancillary plant and 106 car parking spaces.
However on November 3, An Bord Pleanala determined that the proposed junction of Clooneen Park, New Line didn’t “adequately provide for safety of road users” because of deficiencies with the design.
