The Parish of Killenummery and Killery invites you to celebrate Easter with a Dawn Mass at Creevelea Abbey. Holy Mass will be celebrated at Creevelea Abbey at 6am on Easter Sunday morning. It will be the first time that a Dawn Mass has been celebrated at the Abbey in recent memory. Creevelea Abbey was a Franciscan house, founded in 1508 and in use until 1650. It was the last Franciscan Friary consecrated in Ireland before the dissolution of the monasteries in the seventeenth century. It is said that St. Patrick visited Dromahair and built a church on the site of Creevelea Abbey, which is marked by a plaque.
