Death of Mrs Margaret McKenna

It was sadness we learned of the sudden and untimely death of Mrs Margaret McKenna, Gowel on Monday week last, Margaret, who was in her mid seventies, died in Sligo Hospital after a very short illness. Margaret who hailed from Three Roads, Monaghan came to live in Leitrim some forty four years ago following her marriage to John James. Margaret had spent time in England and Belfast as a nurse but the biggest part of her life was her family and her faith. A deeply religious lady who prayed each day and who attended Mass in the nearby Church in Gowel whenever possible. Margaret was removed from her home to Gowel Church on Wednesday evening last and following funeral Mass was laid to rest in Kiltoghert Cemetery. To her heartbroken husband John James, daughters Ann Marie and Mary O’Dowd, son-in-law Harry, grandsons Paul and Shane, brothers Eamon, Seamus and Patrick, sisters-in-law Joan, Marie and Angela, nephews and nieces and large circle of friends we extend our deepest sympathy. May she rest in peace.
