Community Centre Fundraiser
The Acorn Players will be putting on their play “The two loves of Gabriel Foley” in Fenagh Community Centre on Friday 12th April. This is a fundraiser for the development of Fenagh Community Centre. Tickets are €10 each and can be bought in the Visitors Centre, McLoughlins Gala Express, Abbey Bar or any committee member. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
St Patrick’s Day Parade
The St Patrick’s Day parade was as good as ever with the weather being dry this year. It all kicked off with St Patrick once again leading the parade through the village followed by some vintage tractors and cars.
With a little help from some strong women, the Morris Minor also made it through the village. Then there were a number of business floats and then the Scor Dancers put on a great show displaying all their steps. Next on were the various different groups from St Caillins National School, Playschool, GAA Club, handball club, Foroige Club.
The nuns also got their chance to parade followed by the Fitness group. St Caillin was also in the parade. Then we had a special visitor “The Pope” complete with all his security guards who paraded through the village in his open top vehicle.
Leaving the best to last was the recreation of a scene that was all too common in the fifties, the old bus from the Film “Dancing at Lunghasa “ arrived in the village with all the young emigrants who had to leave Ireland in the fifties.
There were long sad goodbyes wishing them all best of luck on their voyage across the seas. Fast forward 50 years to the year of the gathering and they all arrived back in Fenagh looking a bit older but happy to be back for a visit. A great day’s enjoyment for everyone.
Thank you: Fenagh Events & Social Committee wish to thank everyone who participated and indeed attended our recent Parade.
It was especially gratifying to find all age groups, from the very young, the mature and all those in between being involved.
This is the 3rd Parade in Fenagh and the Committee are delighted that it went so well.....even the rain held off. It is impossible to thank all who were involved on the day but the Committee are very appreciative of all your assistance.
If anyone has photographs they wish to share, please let any member of the Committee know. Roll on next year to an even bigger and better Parade. We look forward to your continued suppport, participation and assistance.
