The St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, Drumshanbo, would like to thank all those who generously donated to their Church Gate Collection. We would also like to thank all the businesses who decorated their premises and who gave sponsorship and to those who still wish to do so they can contact any of the Committee members. Thanks to the 2 undercover hard-working Judges, the Stewards who helped out on the Day and to the young people who handed out sweets, thanks to Sergeant Gallagher, An Garda Siochana for all their help, thanks to the Pauric Sweeney with the Lough Allen Ceoltóirí, the Raheen Pipe Band Elphin, Paul Gibbons and to Grace Hopkins for entertaining the large crowd on the day.

Thanks to Fr. Peter Burke Cllrs. Francis Gilmartin and Gerry Dolan. A special word of thanks to Cllr. Enda McGloin who at very short notice was Master of Ceremories on the day and also to Jim Flynn who graced us as St. Patrick. To everyone who made an effort and entered the parade many thanks. Congratulations to all our winners in the four different catergories of the parade, Lough Allen Adventure Centre, An Tostal Committee, Drumshanbo National School and to the Mill Race. Lia Hairdressers took the best shop window display prize. Our thanks also to the An Tostal committee for all their help and advice over the past number of months. Thanks also to everyone who took part and to everyone else who helped out in any way to make the St. Patrick’s Day Parade a success and hopefully we the Committee can rely on your support in 2014.

‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in Drumshanbo

(Where you the audience will vote for your favourite couple) for the 1st ‘Leitrim Crystal’ Perpetual Trophy, also 2nd and 3rd prizewinners ‘Musical Bingo’ starting at 9 sharp followed by our dancers on Saturday 6th April next at the Lough Allen Hotel & Spa, Drumshanbo. All proceeds in aid of Domestic Violence Advocacy Service (DVAS) aiding women and children in Leitrim, Sligo & west Cavan. Spot prizes include a ‘Harry Feeney’(TV) framed and signed watercolour & a 2 night experience at ‘the Redcastle Oceanfront Golf & Spa Hotel’, overlooking Lough Foyle.

Fleadh reminder

Final reminder to all members of Drumshanbo Comhaltas who wish to compete at the County Fleadh in music, singing, dancing, bands or any competition, closing date is Thursday, 28th March. Not a lot of time left. There will be no entries taken on the day of the fleadh so do not be disappointed. Your name must be entered in the official fleadh programme. Call Maura on 087 2992449.

Well done to the John McKenna Traditional Society, Drumkeerin for organising a wonderful concert on Friday 16th March in Drumkeerin. A very enjoyable night was had by all. Included in the line up of artists were our branch members Orla, Niamh and Sarah Ward. who provided some lovely music and sean nos dancing. Nancy and Maura were also spotted in the crowd. Some of our members were also involved in a number of St Patrick’s day parades, so well done to all concerned.

Gospel Choir fundraising event

The Co. Leitrim ‘Sweet Spirit Country & Gospel Choir’ based in Mohill and under the musical direction of Tish Dunleavy will be staging their show in the Cornmill Theatre, Carrigallen on Friday night 12th April 2013 at 8.30pm. Proceeds from this show will be donated to the two very deserving organisations - Leitrim based ‘Stop Suicide’ and Leitrim Multiple Sclerosis. Senior Citizens

Senior Citizens will meet on this afternoon (Wednesday) at 2pm in Áras Phádraig for the weekly chat and a cuppa. New members always welcome.

Allen Gaels 25 card drive

The popular Allen Gaels 25 card Drive continues every Sunday evening in the Clubhouse at 8.30pm. Everybody welcome. Refreshments served.
