Fashion Show in Lough Rynn

Bornacoola GAA are delighted to announce that they are holding a fundraising Fashion Show on 19th April in Lough Rynn Castle. Loads of “Local “models, a few “celebs” and some of our finest footballers as you have never seen them before! Fashions for all ages, spot prizes galore, wine & cheese reception and much more! Dance the night away with the one and only Tom Moran. So come and support our local club: rally the troops and join us for a fabulous night; tickets are priced at €10 and will be on sale this week, also available on the door.

Bornacoola GAA Club Draw

The March draw for the Bornacoola GAA club draw takes place in the Copper Still, Dromod on next Saturday with music by Brian Farrell. Usual prizes, your support would be appreciated.

Fundraising events for James Gill

James Gill is suffering from a rare liver cancer and his only hope is further treatment in America. The cost of this is €80,000 and various fundraising events are taking place to help this young man of just twenty years old to have a chance of survival. James’s dad Declan is from Curramartin, Drumsna and his grandparents Mary and P.J. Gill live in Coolcrieve. He has many cousins and relatives all around the Drumsna area. He has been fighting cancer for a number of years while being looked after with great care by his mom Geraldine, dad Declan and his sister and brothers.

On Easter Sunday night, March 31st there will be a fundraiser in Duignan’s, Drumsna with music by Country One. Admission is optional. On Friday night April 5th there will be a fundraiser in Cox’s Steakhouse with music by “Nando and Shandy”. Admission optional. There are also tickets on sale for €10 each 1st prize a vintage tractor, 2nd a maiden heifer, 3rd €300 worth of heating oil and the draw will take place in Taylor’s, Drumsna on Saturday night, April 20th.

Photographic Exhibition

Ballinamore Library would like to invite the public in to view a “Solo Photographic Exhibition” by Dromod Photographer Ailbhe McGill. The exhibition will run until 12th April during library opening hours: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10.00-1.30 and 2.30 to 5.30. Tuesday to Thursday 10.00-1.30 and 2.30-8.00 Saturday 10.00-1.30 and 2.30-5.00. Admission Free.

New Baby

We send our congratulations to James Faughnan, formerly of Corduff and now of Carrick-on-Shannon and wife Mary McMahon on the birth of their fourth baby, a girl to be named Eva, little sister for Laura, Maria and James, born at Mullingar Hospital on 10th March last. We wish you health and happiness for the future.

Bornacoola Youth Club

This week at the Hive another week of fun had by all. The junior leaders are still working with the younger clubs and really enjoying the experience as are the junior and senior club members. They have lots of stuff planned for the coming weeks for all to enjoy.

There will be no clubs on for the next two weeks due to the Easter holidays from school. We will be back on April 11 (Thursday) with drop in for the teen club as normal and on April 12th (Friday) senior club from seven to half eight and teen club from a quarter to nine until a quarter past ten.

Just a quick reminder that the clothes bank is still situated beside the community centre with proceeds going to the youth club and cancer research.

Leitrim supporters club

The Leitrim supporters annual draw took place in Cox’s, Dromod on Saturday night last. Winners were as follows: €5,000; Tony McLoughlin, Strandhill, Sligo. Trip to New York: Inez McPadden, Dromahair. €1,000 Jim Connolly, Drumlea and Dublin. Two All Ireland Hurling tickets and accommodation; Drumreilly GAA club. Two All Ireland Football tickets and accommodation; Maura McCormack, Annaduff. Two tickets to all Leitrim championship games; Pauline and Gordon Ryan, Breaffy, Co Mayo. Dinner and Accommodation in any one of McNiff Hotels; Sean O’Heslin’s GAA club. Dinner and Accommodation in Slieve Russell Eugene and Sheila Fowley, Leckawn, Co Leitrim.

New Baby

We send our congratulations Cormack and Lorraine Flynn, Kilnagross on the birth of their second baby a boy to ne named Tadgh. We wish you health and happiness for the future.

Fundraising Cycle

A note to hand from my neighbour Seamus Duignan to let you know that County Longford Scuba divers Search and rescue unit are holding a “Fundraising Cycling Sportive” on Sunday, April 28th next. The cycle will start at their clubhouse on the Ballinalee Road Longford at 10.30am and the cycle will be for distances of 80km, 50km, or 20km which ever the cyclist prefers. Birthday greetings

We would like to send greetings to some people who celebrate their birthday in recent times; firstly to music man Ronnie Duignan who had his birthday on Thursday last sharing it with his neighbour Michael John Shanley also greetings to Bornacoola footballer Brian Conroy who also celebrated his birthday last week.
