Arva Parade

The annual St. Patrick’s Day parade takes place in Arva Town again this year. It’s on a Sunday this year so it should attract big crowds. There are lots of floats and parades taking part to make it a very colourful occasion this year.

Arva Town Busy

Despite the recession, Arva Town seems to ignore the doom and gloom associated with similar towns around the country. The banks are busy. So is the Credit Union and the Daybreak Supermarket run by the Daly family on Main Street, they also have a Butcher’s shop. And just down the same street is Donnelly’s Butchers in the premises known long ago as O’Neill’s. Keith’s across the road is an old establishment. So is Cully Grocery at Lower Main Street still selling groceries and fuel plus other things such as newspapers. Cully’s New Bakery is out of town in a brand new building, serving several counties. So is Brady’s Garage and Gerry Ellis too. Ronnie’s Fruit and Vegetables is bustling as well and so is the Bookies and Breffni Arms Hotel is very busy.

Support local St. Patrick’s Day Parades

Those intent on going out for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade should support local towns like Arva, Killeshandra and Mohill. These smaller towns have very good parades and lots to offer. Travelling to big towns for a day out does not make much sense as these bigger places have a population of their own so the message is stay local.
