Dancers or Chancers
The Drumsna Bingo buddies including Maura Bohan, Geraldine Monaghan, Patricia O’Reilly, Charles Beirne, Anne-Marie O’Reilly and Bernie Daniels together with Chloe Daniels, Declan Gill, Amy Keane and Orla McGowan are taking part in the fundraiser for the running of the Connacht Fleadh Ceol which takes place in Carrick-on-Shannon 2013.
Drumsna C.C.E. together with Mohill C.C.E. are joining with Carrick for the holding of the fleadh. The above brave Bingo goers have been practising their Sean Nos steps under the careful eye of Choreographer our own Edwina Guckian for the past number of weeks. Also watch out for Fionnuala Taylor Drumsna who is dancing with “The Mammies” Mrs Brown who is also from Drumsna is another one to watch out for.
They and other Community groups will be competing at the “Dancers or Chancers” competition in Lough Rynn Castle Hotel on next Friday night March 8th. You may vote for them at one Euro per vote on Special forms that are circulating at the moment ,or you can vote on the night. We wish the Bingo buddies and all the local dancers including a number of children the best of luck on Friday.
International World Day of Prayer
The International and Interdenominational World day of prayer Service was held in the Church of the Immaculate Drumsna on Friday evening last .The leader Maura Faughnan led a large number of local people who took part in the service which was written this year by the women of France. The music was ably played by Ruth Waller, while the voice of Father John Wall P.P Annaduff led the choir. A reception was hosted by The Golden Age group in the Community Centre afterwards where everyone enjoyed the chat and refreshments.
There will be a special fundraiser in Cox’s Steakhouse, Dromod, for to raise funds for the James Gill cancer treatment fund. James who is a son of Declan and Geraldine

America is being held in Cox’s Steakhouse on Friday night, April 5th. Commencing at 9.30pm.Nando and Shandy are sponsored by Cox’s to play the music on the night. Admission is optional and your support for brave James would be greatly appreciated.
Registration night and weigh for the above takes place in Annaduff Community Centre on Monday night next March 11th at 8.30pm. John Russell from Vibrotone, Dromod will be there to get everyone motivated. Registration fee is just 3 Euro. per person. This is a great opportunity to get fit , meet friends, get healthy and have some fun. There is a packed agenda for ladies and gentlemen. St. Patrick’s Feast Day
The Annual St. Patrick’s Day Traditional Mass takes place in Drumsna on March 17th at 9.30am. With kind permission from Fr. Wall there will be Irish music and dance on the feast of our National Saint. On St Patrick’s night Drumsna C.C.E. are holding their Annual fundraising night of Traditional music, song and dance with guest artists Fionnuala Maxwell, Edwina Guckian, Brian Moystyn, Clare Bohan, Mary Mostyn, Pauline Daly and a host of other celebrities.
St. Patrick will be there with a large jar of snakes and you can guess how many snakes there are for one Euro a go.This is the only fundraiser that the C.C.E, hold during the year and your support would be appreciated. Drumsna together with the Mohill branch are assisting Carrick with the Connaught Fleadh this year and are to be much admired for their work in keeping our traditional music alive and ongoing.
Golden Age Meeting
There will be golden Age meeting on this day week Wed Mar 13th at 11am. in the Centre Drumsna. Please bring in the money for the holiday. Practising for Bealtaine also commences at this meeting. All are asked to attend.
Trollope Trail Walk
There is a Trollope trail walk talking place on next Saturday March 9th commencing at the Community Centre Drumsna at 3pm led by the one and only Mick Hanly. This beautiful walk takes approximately one and a half hours so you will be back in plenty of time for the Rugby.
Mick will then take a break and be ready for the long awaited Mick Hanly Concert in the community Center Quay street on Saturday night at 8.30pm.
