The death occurred recently of Eugene Charles, Diffin. The entire community were greatly upset by the unfortunate saga of the disappearance and subsequent search for Eugene Charles, when he was missing for several days before his remains were found near Carrigallen chapel. Eugene, known as Gino, was an integral part of the community, known and loved by all, he was always in good humour and is missed by everyone in the area. Gino worked in the meat factories in both Dromod and Rooskey for several years. He also worked in the forestry and was very well known across a wide area. Coming from a large family Gino had a multitude of nieces and nephews with whom he kept in constant contact and was always looking out for them. He was a great family man full of good nature and generosity. While he never married, Gino always had an eye for
the ladies. He enjoyed socialising and having a few drinks and he was well known far and wide. The community spirit that flowed during the days of the search was magnificent, as people who knew Gino from all over converged on Carrigallen to help. It was wonderful reflection of the high esteem in which Gino was held and indeed the unity and support that people give so willingly in times of need.
Deepest sympathy to his brothers Pat, Frankie, Philip and Michéal and to hid sisters Marian, Patricia and Kathleen and to all his extended family, friends and relations. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
