Car Boot Sale
A car boot sale, in aid of Rooskey Church Renovation, will be held in the Rooskey Community Centre Car Park this Saturday 18, contact 087 9921068.
Deepest sympathy is extended to the family of Carmel Monaghan, Tulsk (sister of Agnes Carley) and also to Gina Huckle, Cloonfad on the death of her husband Robin. May their souls rest in peace.
Rooskey Residents Association
We have commenced preparations for the Tidy Towns Competition. Our FAS people are busy cleaning, mowing and tidying. Our Spring clean has been carried out over the last number of weeks and hopefullypeople will continue to help us observe a Litter-Free status. Painting and planting of summer bedding plants will be carried out shortly. We’re very thankful to all those who have helped us to date and hope you will continue to support our efforts to present our village and surrounds in the best possible manner. Volunteers would be very welcome to help with watering flower beds during the summer months.
Gathering weekend takes place 31 May to 3 June. Friday May 31: CJ’s Bar – A night of Contemporary, Country, Pop and Traditional Music along with Sean Nos Dancing. Music by Cormac Judge and special guests.
Saturday 1: The Pauric Murphy Cup. Indoors; Demonstrations of Boxty Making/Pancakes/Brown Bread & Griddle Bread Making. Craft displays by Boird Tire (Bread/Cheese Boards etc. In Walnut, Beech, Oak). Demonstration in Basket Making by Naomh Padraig Handcrafts. (Items for sale on the day). Other items to be confirmed:
Sunday: Walk on Sliabh Ban – Registration at 10.30am. Sunday evening at 6pm – Pig on the Stick followed by music with Ray Lynam in the Kon-Tiki - €10 gains entry to all. Monday 3: Treasure Hunt throughout the Parish of Kilglass – cash prizes for winners. This will be followed by results, refreshments and music with Hammer in Cox’s Bar from 6 – 8pm. Also, if anybody would like to set up a stall on Saturday 1 June promoting crafts or other items, please contact Noreen Corcoran on 086 1698455. This is a fun packed weekend for our Parish and will only be successful with your help. Make it Happen – Be Part Of It!

Congratulations to Mary Teresa Nugent, formerly Cloonfad, and Virgil Lynch, Leitrim Village who were married in Las Vegas and had a wedding blessing and reception in The Bush Hotel, Carrick-on-Shannonwith music by Gobsmacked. The Parish wishes both couples long and happy lives together.
HayDogs Shave or Dye
Event takes place in the Kon-Tiki, Rooskey on Friday 24 May at 9pm. Day begins in Tarmonbarry in Ellie Ann King’s Funky Fringes Hair Salon. Heads will be dyed from 2pm. HayDogs will be doing a bucket collection during the afternoon. Music later on the night by Late Night Radio. Full body waxing by Lorraine McGlynn from Ambience Beauty Salon, Tarmonbarry and head shaving by Ellie Ann and Dawn. A guest appearance by Chris the Sheep from Fr. Ted. All proceeds to The Irish Cancer Society.
