Orienteering in Derrycarne Woods
Sligo Orienteering Club is holding orienteering in Derrycarne Woods, Dromod on Sunday, 19th May. Registration is 12.00pm -14.00pm. Cost €5. There is Beginners and Seniors Courses available. All welcome. Families and buggies welcomed.
For anyone who doesn’t know what orienteering is come along on the day and you will be shown what to do. Will be signposted from the Carrick Road and the Dromod Roundabout using white and orange orienteering markers.

Fun run, Walk and Roll
Leitrim Association of People with Disabilities Memorial event in memory of the late Howard Cusack and Sr.Emmanuel Farrelly 5k walk and 2k Fun run, Walk and Roll on Sunday, May 26th at 12.30pm. The event will be launched by Alan Devine (Louie) Fair City and dramaclub.ie and Andy McGovern, Author of “Against the odds”. Entry fee €10, families €20, everybody of all ages welcome. Please note change of Masses while St. Mary’s Church, Annaduff is being refurbished as follows: Masses will now be celebrated in Drumsna Church: Monday evening 7 p.m. followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament until 8p.m. Holy Hour Duty: Gerry O’Connor, Milly McNally, Mona Guckian, Marion Casserly: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 9 a.m. Friday (7 p.m.).. Saturday evening Vigil Mass 7 p.m. in Drumsna and the 11 a.m. Sunday Mass will be celebrated in Annaduff N.S.
Zumba Dancing Classes every Thursday night in Annaduff Community Centre at 9 p.m. Class €5 for 5 week programme. All are welcome.
Nathan Carter dance
Leitrim Sports Partnership is hosting a Nathan Carter dance on Thursday next 16th May in the Landmark Hotel, Carrick-on-Shannon to help raise funds for sports and physical activities for children and adults with disabilities in Leitrim. This event originally advertised as a concert, due to public demand will now be a dance, beginning at 10 p.m. instead of the original time of 8.30 p.m. Tickets are now on sale from Leitrim Sports Partnership at 0971 9650498 or at the Landmark Hotel. Price €20. Over 18’s.
The Annaduff Parish gathering is to be held on July 26th, 27th and 28th of July. Please tell all of your friends and relatives and make this an event to remember. The evening of Friday the 26th of July will be a warm welcome home reception and concert in the Community Centre Annaduff with M.C. Fionnuala Maxwell. The talent of the Parish will be on show for the night.
On Saturday, July 27th Des Guckian will take you on a guided tour of the upper end of the Parish of Annaduff and on to Dromod Leitrim’s Tidiest Town and Award winning village This tour will commence at St. Mary’s Church Annaduff at 10am. until 1pm.
After lunch there will be sports in the G.A.A, park for young and old with side shows, etc. The evening time will be a treat of Irish music and song with famous Annaduff native Billy Faughnan and friends providing the entertainment in the G.A.A. Centre
Sunday July 28th will open with the re-dedication of St. Mary’s Church Annaduff at 11am Mass. After lunch all are invited down to the Drumsna end of the Parish for a guided tour of this historical and also All Ireland ‘’Pride of Place’’ Award winning village at 3 pm with Noel Duignan. Paricia O’Reilly will take the children on their own magical tour of the village at the same time.
At 4pm everyone is invited to the Drumsna Community Centre where we will take a nostalgic trip back in time to the days of yester year and have a cup of tea and a chat.
Congratulations to Edwina Guckian on being selected as the Leitrim Rose. Wishing Edwina the best of luck in the Finals in June.
Sympathy is extended to the relatives and friends of the late David Hargadon, Gortinty. He is also survived by his brother, Michael, England. His burial took place after 12 noon Mass in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Drumsna on Monday last 13th May, 2013 to St. Mary’s, Cemetery, Annaduff. May he rest in peace.
At the recent I.C.A. Meeting Geraldine Monaghan, Garden Centre, Drumsna gave tips on the care of flowers and vegetables. She helped some of the members fill their window boxes from her beautiful display of flowers. Annaduff I.C.A. annual outing will take place on the 29th June to the Heritage Centre and Museum, Athlone. Bookings for same by contacting Maura at 9624353.
There will be a sponsored walk on the 31st May, for the Niall Mellon Trust in aid of Gerry Quinlan, Carrick-on-Shannon, who is travelling to South Africa later this year. The walk will commence at St. Mary’s Church, Annaduff. Your support would be appreciated.
