Glenfarne History Appeal

Compiling the history of Glenfarne has been ongoing for some time. It is hoped to have a booklet completed for the Glenfarne Gala Festival taking place from 1st until 5th August next for the year of “The Gathering”. Many topics will be covered, including limekilns; schools, townlands; Tottenham / Massey Estates; graveyards; churches / priests; post offices and sweathouses. We hope to have one operating for the festival – we could be looking for volunteers to go into the hot sweathouse!

Would you believe that there have been almost fifty shops in Glenfarne down through the years and we hope to name them all?

If there is anyone that has information in relation to Glenfarne history, please contact 087-6771375 or 086-8831047.
