Ballinamore PPS Closing Celebration
The final closing of the three post primary schools in Ballinamore at the end of May is being marked with a function on Sunday, June 2nd. All past and present students, staff and parents are invited to join in this celebration. The event starts with concelebrated mass in St. Patrick’s Church, Ballinamore at 5pm, which will be followed with a BBQ, entertainment, a chat and reminiscences in Meanscoil Fatima.
The committee would welcome photographs, memorabilia, old uniforms or part thereof, old magazines, etc. Photographs can be scanned and emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or dropped into or posted to the school office at St. Felims, where they will be copied and returned. New Primary Care Centre
The plans for the new Primary Care Centre and Care Management, Tully, Ballinamore can be viewed at Ballinamore library; Opening Hours, Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10 – 1.30pm and 2.30 – 5.30. Tuesday and Thursday 10 - 1.30pm and 2.30 – 8.00. Saturday 10 – 1.30pm and 2.30 - 5.00.
Pride and Prejudice 200
To celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Publication of “Pride and Prejudice” Ballinamore Library staff have put together a small exhibition on “Pride and Prejudice” and the life of Jane Austen. There is also a selection of Jane Austen books including a number of copies of “Pride and Prejudice” on display and available for loan. On Tuesday 30th April at 7.30pm the film adaptation of “Pride and Prejudice” will be shown in the library. Admission free and all welcome.
Placenames of County Leitrim
As Part of the Gathering Celebrations Sean Ó Suilleabháin former County Librarian will give a Lecture on the Placenames of County Leitrim in Ballinamore Library on Tuesday 7th May at 9pm. Placenames, their meanings, how they came about and how they were translated from Gaelic to English is fascinating. This should prove to be a very informative and interesting evening not to be missed, with time for questions and discussion following the lecture. Remember admission is free and everyone is welcome.
Ballinamore Area Community Games Athletics will take place next Thursday, May 2nd in St. Felims’s, Ballinamore, at 6.30pm. Registration from 6pm. All welcome. U8 - U16.

People with special needs
Cáirde Liatroim is holding a fund raising dance with TR Dallas, Mickey Clerkin and Seán McAloon in the Bush Hotel, Carrick-on-Shannon on Thursday 9th May. Start 8pm. Cáirde Liatroim is a social club which provides outings for people with special needs. Great raffle prizes on the night. Tickets available at the door or contact 086 2545613.
May run, walk, roll
The annual may run walk or roll in aid of Cancer Research/North West Hospice will take place on Sunday May 26th 2013 starting from Aughnasheelin Community centre at 1 p.m. Entry Fee €10. Sponsorship cards on request - contact Cáit at 087 2123703. Join the walk and you will not only support a good cause but you will also bring your friends and families together for a great fun afternoon. Last year over €10,000 was raised for Cancer research and this year we would gope to exceed that for these two very worthy causes. If you can’t walk you can stil help out with stewarding, refreshments, registration etc, or you can donate on MyCharity.ie. If you’re donating but not walking why not join us for refreshments in the Community Centre following the event.
