LAPWD Memorial Event
In memory of the late Howard Cusack and Sr. Emmanuel Farrelly. 5K Walk and 2K Fun Run, Walk and Roll on Sunday, May 26th at 12.30pm. The event will be launched by Alan Devine (Louie) Fair City and dramaclub.ie and Andy McGovern, Author of “Against the Odds”. Entry fee €10 and everybody welcome. Mohill and District Historical Society
Our next meeting of the Mohill and District Historical Society will take place on Tuesday the 7th of May in the Canon Donohue Hall at 8.30pm sharp. We are privileged to have as our guest speaker, Fr. Liam Kelly, famed author and historian. He will give a presentation on local history accompanied by a collection of historical photographs.

“Choose Life, We Cherish Them Both”
A Vigil of Prayer for the right to life of mothers and their unborn babies Saturday May 4th, Our Lady’s Shrine, Knock. This important event supported by the Irish Bishops’s Conference will begin with a themed Rosary Procession at 1pm and conclude with Mass in the Basilica at 3pm. All are most warmly welcome to attend.
The Main Celebrant, Cardinal Sean Brady, Homilist, Most Rev Brendan Leahy, Bishop of Limerick. A Blessing for Expectant Mothers who are present wil be given during the Mass. There will be a bus from St. Patrick’s Church, Mohill at 10am. To book your place, please call 087-7819586 or 086-1280668.
Kealin Ireland of Leitrim BirdWatch presented a slide show on garden birds and what is happening in Leitrims and fields at this time of year followed by light exercise by Sarah, refreshments and raffle, all in the Canon Donohoe Hall on Tuesday April 30th last faciltated by Mohill ICA. All who attended were very impressed and thanks to Kealin are more knowledgeable about our locard birds and “The Dawn Chorus”.

Next Friday May 3rd is the first Friday Mass at 1am. 8pm Confessions on Thursday after 10am Mass. The sick and housebound will be attended as usual. Eucharistic Adoration on Thursday from 10:30am- 10pm with Special Holy Hour between 8 to 9pm. Your attendance will be much appreciated.
“The more we receive in silent prayer, the better we can give in our active life”. This holy hour is also dedicated for the right to life of mothers and babies. Youth 2000 Prayer Meeting takes place this Wednesday May 1st from 8pm to 9pm in St. Patrick’s Church. “The fruit of prayer is faith”.
Bluegrass Raffle Results
The Mohill Bluegrass Festival Committee would like to thank all those who supported our fundraising Raffle which was held in J’s Hotel, Main Street on Saturday March 30th 2012.
We congratulate the prize winners: Hamper- Katie Whearty, TV/DVD combo- Mary T. Kelly and Maureen Lynch won the Easter Egg hamper kindly donated by Baxter’s Supermarket, Centra, to whom we express our thanks.
This year’s Bluegrass Festival will take place here in Mohill from Friday August 9th to Sunday August 11th. This promises to be a full weekend when Mohill will come alive with music, song and the craic. Extending a cead mile failite to all our visitors.
Mohill Bridge Club

The Leitrim Branch and Diabetes Ireland invite you to a Public Information meeting on this Wednesday May 1st to the Ramada Hotel, Drumshanbo at 8pm. The draw on Mondayv, April 29th was held in Casey’s, Bridge Street with jackpot at €13,300. Thanking you for your support and thanks to everyone who contributed to the recycling fundraiser at the weekend, not forgetting all the volunteers for collecting the items and for all the heavy lifting. “Many hands make light work”.
Club Recognition Award: We wish to add our congratulations to the many received by Mohill Ladies on receiving the Club Recognition Award for Leitrim. They received their award in Claremorris last Saturday. Thank you to all the girls who contributed in compiling our entry and to our management and executive who made this award possible. Keep June 22nd/23rd in your diary for a spectacular and unique fundraising event for Mohill GAA. “Every little helps”.
The annual church gate collection in aid of the Irish Cancer Society will be held at St. Patrick’s Church, Mohill this weekend Saturday May 4th and Sunday 5th. Your support of this worthy cause would be appreciatd.
The annual general meeting of Mohill Agricultural Show Committee will be held on Tuesday May 7th next in J’s Hotel at 9pm. All Committee members are asked to attend and new members most welcome.

Saturday 4pm at 8pm Mass in St. Patrick’s Church with “Sweet Spirit” Gospel Choir and at 8:45pm, the Sliabh a Iarainn players will stage “The Country Boy’ in the Hunt Hall. Sunday 5th at 7pm, Percy French comes to town followed by a gala performance of song, drama, recitation and Percy French performing group, Mohill Amateur Dramatic Society, not forgetting the North Co. Down Percy French Performing Quartet. This promises to be a night to remember and not to be missed. Wishing the organising committee continued success and thanks for bringing “Percy” to Mohill.

Church Gate Collection: A big thank you to all who contributed so generously to our annual church gate collection which was held at all Masses recently. The committee and parents are very grateful to all who have donated to our Atheltic Club. We will now be in a position to purchase some equipment for our juvenile athletes. Also thank you to all who volunteered themselves to help out on the collections on both days. Training now on Monday 6-7pm and Friday 4:30- 5:30pm at GAA Grounds. Mohill is putting great effort into this Gathering idea with two weekends of events planned. This weekend we have the Percy French Party and it promises to be wonderful. Then we have the Mohill GAA Gathering which will take place on the June Bank Holiday Weekend starting on Saturday May 31st with the launching in the Clubrooms in the evening when we welcome the Manchester people with light refreshments. On Sat June 1st there will be games for every category of player followed by a buffet and the presentation of medals in J’s that night.
On Sunday, we have mass for deceased members, a fun day in the Park and a Variety Concert in J’s Hotel hosted on the night by our very own Katherine Lynch and featuring songs, sketches and dancing. Kathleen will be around all weekend and will hopefully treat us to some songs from her CD: Settling Dust.
