Sligo/Leitrim Boxing Championships
For the first time ever the Leitrim/Sligo boxing championships will be held in the Killargue Community on this Friday night, February 15 as part of the North Leitrim village’s ever popular boxing tournament hosted by the Seán McDermott Boxing Club. The weigh-in will take place in the Seán McDermott Boxing Club Boxing Hall in Manorhamilton on this Wednesday evening, February 13 at 6.30pm. All roads lead to Killargue on Friday night when the excellent annual boxing tournament will be staged in Killargue Community Centre, commencing at 8.30pm sharp.
Manor’s 4K & 10K Fun Races
The fourth annual St. Clare’s Comprehensive School, Manorhamilton 4K and 10K fun Run and Walk will take place on Sunday April 21 at 12.30pm. Registration forms can be downloaded from www.stclarescomprehensive.ie and returned to the school or you can register on www.runireland.com Also on the morning of the run registration is open from 10am to 12 p.m. The registration fees are €10 (10K) and €5 (4K). There are a number of prizes in various categories of the Fun Runs and Walks. There will be refreshments in the St. Clare’s Comprehensive School Gym after the run.
John Murray’s Glenfarne Walk
RTE Radio One’s John Murray will lead a 90 minute walk in Glenfarne on this Sunday, which will be a part of his countrywide campaign promoting better health and physical fitness for all. Regarding his visit to the North Leitrim village John says, “Our next walk will take place on Sunday, 17th February 2013. We will gather for the walk in Glenfarne outside the Ballroom of Romance at 12 noon. “The walk will take about 90 minutes – and there will also be a break for entertainment and music. The walk will go through a forest, so sturdy walking shoes are advised. Raingear and warm clothes are also recommended. We will return to the Ballroom of Romance afterwards for refreshments and some craic!”
Rainbow Camera Club
The cross-border Rainbow Camera Club will be holding its February meeting in The Cabin, Rossinver, on this Thursday night, 14 February from 8pm to 10pm.
During the first part of the meeting all in attendance will be looking at camera settings, and members are encouraged to bring their cameras to the meeting for this.
A slide show of recent photographs that the members have produced will take place after the break. The Club also hope to decide on the location for a photographic shoot in the near future. Free intercultural party
There will be free admission to this Saturday’s (February 16) Intercultural Party ‘A Taste of World Culture’ which takes place in the Bee Park Community Centre commencing at 3pm. It will be a family day hosted by the Leitrim Intercultural Forum for North Leitrim and at it there will be music, food, children’s activities and a display of world culture. The Party is open to the public and all are welcome while donations will be greatly appreciated.

Local history project
This Valentine’s Day The Thursday Club will host the presentation of a local history project based on the memories of the Rossinver based Active Age Group. This will be followed by a performance by traditional musicians Jim and Francie Bainbridge. Everyone in the area is welcome to attend at the New Ballagh Centre, Rossinver from 11am-1pm on Thursday, 14th February, refreshments will be served after the performance.
Operation Transformation 5K Walk
Operation Transformation 5K Walk this Saturday, 16th February at 12pm in Manorhamilton. Registration at Bee Park Resource Centre from 11am. Donations kindly accepted however small. Proceeds of registration to North West Simon Community a local charity preventing homelessness in Leitrim, Sligo & Donegal. Families and children urged to take part. Prizes on the day. Please come along and support and get fit. The route starts at the Bee Park, heads out the Rossinver Road, Deerpark, Castle St., Park Road and finishes back at Bee Park. Walking is a form of exercise accessible to just about everybody. It’s safe, simple and doesn’t require practice. And the health benefits are many.
A talk to which everyone is invited by Rob Wheeldon on “Watching Birds in Ireland” and also covering butterflies and moths will be given upstairs in the Bee Park Community Centre at 8pm on Friday, February 22.

The seventh annual charity concert of Irish music, song and dance organised and performed by the Traditional Irish Music course will be held on Friday night, March 1 in the Mayflower Community centre, Drumshanbo commencing at 8pm. All the proceeds will be donated to St Vincent de Paul, Drumshanbo, the Breffni Centre, Carrick-on-Shannon and Stop Suicide Manorhamilton, which are all very worth causes. Tickets are only €5(U12s free) and each ticket will be entered into a draw for €100. So come along for a great evening of ceol agus craic.
Afterschool Childcare Services
Now that Manorhamilton Childcare Afterschool Services is up and running each week it is full of exciting and new activities for all attending. The Childcare Services is offering on Mondays, baking classes, on Wednesdays, art and crafts and on Fridays, drama. Why not come and join the Manorhamilton’s Afterschool exciting and fun service that runs from Monday to Friday between 1.45pm to 6pm each day in the Bee Park Community Centre. Children that wish to attend the Childcare Afterschool Services will

New Historical Society
Manorhamilton and District Historical Society was formed at a recent meeting in Manorhamilton Library with a view to collating local history and heritage and where possible putting it into the public domain. The Society will hold regular meetings and outings, and hopes to have some visiting lecturers. The following officers were elected to serve on the inaugural committee; Chairperson Oliver Haslette, Vice Chairperson, Margaret Connolly, Secretary, Joan Haslette, Assistant Secretary Breege O’Hagan, Treasurer, Sean McMorrow, PRO, Gerry Creamer. Anyone interested in becoming involved in the on-going work of the Society is welcome to get in touch with any committee member. Membership of the society was set at €20.
Third Farmers Market
The third Manorhamilton Origin Farmers Market of the month takes place on this Friday, February 15 between 10am and 2pm in the Bee Park Community Centre car park. The Market serves the Manorhamilton and North Leitrim area.

Deepest sympathy on his death in University Hospital Galway is extended to the family of Padraig Diamond, Drumlease, Dromahair and formerly of Leckaun, Newtownmanor.
Padraig’s remains reposed at Fowley’s Funeral Home, Dromahair on Monday evening, February 11 prior to their removal to St. Patrick’s Church, Dromahair. Mass of the Resurrection for Padraig and his Funeral Service took place in St. Patrick’s Church on Tuesday, February 12 at noon with burial afterwards in Creevelea Abbey New Cemetery.
The Manor Meals-on-Wheels volunteer service needs more helpers in the town area, to assist with its scheme through which dinners are delivered to very worthy local recipients daily, early each afternoon.
