The Corn Mill Theatre Group present Brothers of the Brush written by Jimmy Murphy and directed by Sean McIntyre on next Thursday 25, Friday 26 and Saturday 27 April 2013. Brothers of the Brush tells how housepainters, patching over the cracks of an old house, misuse each other for their own advantage. Filmed over ten months, “Simply Am Dram” is a six part series that follows a number of amateur drama groups in their attempt to qualify for the 2012 All Ireland Finals. From the casting sessions to the crowning of the eventual champions, the series is a behind-the-scenes look at the commitment and dedication of those involved in a movement that is amateur only in name. This is pride of the parish stuff. See the cheers, jeers and rivalry as the members of the various groups sweat it out with a community’s expectations riding on them. Featuring The Nenagh Players, Kilmeen Drama Group, Bradán Players, Brideview Drama Group, Prosperous Dramatic Society, Ballyshannon Drama Group and Corn Mill Theatre Group. Cleaning up in Carrigallen
Saturday last saw a large clean up of the approach roads to our village with the teenagers from the Foróige Club led by Sean and Patricia Ledwith along with local Cllr Paddy O’Rourke. Many people have been commenting on how much litter had accumulated on the road sides over the recent months and indeed much of what was collected on Saturday last was of a household nature rather than simply litter, that people would dump such material along a roadside is inexcusable and those who do so should think of the damage they are doing to their own environment. Well done to those who took part in the clean up particularly the Foróige members. They are the generation who will lead the change of attitude on such issues.
