Remember the late John Curry?
Anybody who grew up in Ballinamore in the late 70’s and 80’s will remember the late John Curry. John spent many years coming on holiday to Ballinamore before coming back to spend his final years there. Throughout his years in Ballinamore. John took numerous photographs, got them developed and then gave them as a keepsake to the people concerned. If there is anybody out there with any of those photos, the library would like to get a copy of them with a view to putting them together as exhibition during the summer festival. Place names of County Leitrim
As part of the Gathering Celebrations Sean Ó Suilleabháin former County Librarian will give a Lecture on the Place names of County Leitrim in Ballinamore Library on Tuesday, 7th May at 9pm. Place names, their meanings, how they came about and how they were translated from Gaelic to English is fascinating. This should prove to be a very informative and interesting evening not to be missed, with time for questions and discussion following the lecture. Remember admission is free and everyone is welcome.

Church Street, Ballinamore, Sunday Service is at 12.15pm every Sunday except on the 4th Sunday which is held in Drumreilly Church.
Ballinamore PPS Closing Celebration
The final closing of the three post primary schools in Ballinamore at the end of May is being marked with a function on Sunday June 2nd. All past and present students, staff and parents are invited to join in this celebration. The event starts with concelebrated mass in St. Patricks church Ballinamore at 5pm, which will be followed with a BBQ, entertainment, a chat and reminiscences in Meanscoil Fatima. The committee would welcome photographs, memorabilia, old uniforms or part thereof, old magazine etc. Photographs can be scanned and emailed to email@example.com or dropped into or posted to the school office at St. Felims, where they will be copied and returned. Any staff member will be happy to accept articles.

Seán O’Heslin’s GAA
Major Musical event in Páirc Sheáin Uí EislinAs part of the club’s 100 years Celebration there will be a major Concert in the Marquee in the Park on Thursday 27 June. On that night Eleanor Shanley accompanied by Frankie Lane and Paul Kelly will be joined by Charlie McGettigan and a host of other performers. This will be a memorable night which will mark the opening of the Readers Symposium supported by the International Fund for Ireland. A night to remember!

Annual May Run Walk or Roll
The Annual May Run Walk or Roll in aid of Cancer Research / North West Hospice will take place on Sunday May 26th 2013 starting from Aughnasheelin Community Centre at 4 p.m. Entry Fee €10. Sponsorship cards on request – contact Cáit 0872123703. Join the walk and you will not only support a good cause but you will also bring your friends and families together for a great fun afternoon. Cáirde Liatroim is holding a fund raising dance with TR Dallas, Mickey Clerkin and Seán McAloon in the Bush Hotel, Carrick-on-Shannon on Thursday 9th May. Start 8pm. Solas Art Gallery
It seems appropriate that as the Solas Art Gallery in Ballinamore launches its Members Spring Show, opening Fri 10th May, that spring seems to have arrived at last in the country. Not only is there a bit... of colour in the hedgerows and gardens but there is a blaze of colour coming up at this forthcoming exhibition. There are nearly 40 pictures, including some sculpture, on show, it is impossible to list them all or even all the artists. The opening will be presented by Gabrielle Flynn, acting County Librarian, who is an accomplished artist herself. The exhibition runs until Sat 1st June, gallery opening hours the same as Four Seasons Garden Centre, Mon-Sat, 10-6pm. Please don’t forget that the popular Drawing Day at Solas will also be taking place on Sat 18th May. One Day for Rehab
RehabCare Ballinamore Will be hosting a fundraising event on Friday the 17th of May in the Resource Centre in Ballinamore from 12.30- 2.30pm. Energise Your Life
Energise Your Life iIs a programme which is offered to all adults over 55 years and to GP Exercise Referral clients. It is a great way to get fit, lose weight, and strengthen joints and muscles, while also meeting new people. This programme is on every Thursday at 10am in Ballinamore GAA Gym. Our Assorted Fitness class is in the GAA Gym this Thursday at 8pm as Whist is in the hall the first Thursday of every month. There is also a second class taking place in Drumreilly Hall at 9.15pm on Thursday.
