Spring Performance for worthy causes!
The Co. Leitrim ‘Sweet Spirit Country & Gospel Choir’ based in Mohill and under the musical direction of Tish Dunleavy will be staging their show in the Cornmill Theatre,
Carrigallen on Friday night 12th April 2013 at 8.30pm. Proceeds from this show will be donated to two very deserving organisations - Leitrim Multiple Sclerosis and Leitrim based ‘Stop Suicide’.
The Choir, which has members from Leitrim, Cavan, Roscommon and Longford, performed in the Dock Theatre in Carrick On Shannon on December 1st to great acclaim and the feedback was very positive. It was unfortunate that so many people were disappointed they couldn’t get tickets for the show. However, this is a great chance to (a) support two great organisations and (b) hear this wonderful, joyous, fun and friendly choir performing some well known songs such as ‘Swing low, the chariots a comin’, ‘Something inside so strong’, ‘Mr. Bojangles’, ‘Let it be’, ‘Lean on me’ ‘Seven Spanish Angels’ and some great Charlie Pride and Seekers material.
Keep Friday 12th April 2013 free to come along and support these great organisations while at the same time enjoying this great singing group. More about this later!

Lecture on Killegar Papers
Leitrim County Library, Ballinamore, will host a lecture entitled ‘The Killegar Archive: a Leitrim treasure’ on Wednesday, 30 January at 7.30 pm. The speaker will be Martin Morris, an archivist who worked on the papers. The Killegar Archive, consisting of papers of the Morgan and Godley families of Killegar, Carrigallen, is on loan to Leitrim County Library from the Killegar Estate. The collection is a unique window into the lives of members of the families for about three hundred years from before the purchase of the estate by Richard Morgan in 1734 to close to the death of his descendant Lord Kilbracken in 2006. Most of the archives concern the Godley family, with the bulk being the papers of Lord Kilbracken, who led a long and remarkable life. The collection is also an important resource for local historians. The lecture will explore the papers and what they tell us about the people who created them. Admission to this Lecture is free and everyone is welcome.
The Chiropodist will attend in Templeport Resource Centre on this Wednesday, 30th January from 11am.
