Catholic School Week
Sunday January 27th last marked the beginning of Catholic School Week. Their theme for the week “Catholic Schools in the Community of Faith Sharing the Good News”. This reminds us that we are celebrating a year of faith and invites us to engage more fully in our parish communtiies. Perhaps even more signifacantly. It also seeks to situate and root the school firmly in the wider community of faith in an effort to encourage and challenge us to be more aware of our responsibility towards our Catholic Schools as just one place within the community where the faith of children is nurtured, deepened and challenged. “Feed your faith adn your doubts will starve to death”. The fruit of prayer is faith.
Come to J’s Hotel, Main St this Thursday Feb 28th and you can dance the night away to the lovely music provided by Brian McDermott. Dancing from 10pm- 12:30pm. Your support will be much appreciated. All are welcome.

Theresa McGarry (Faughnan)
It was with the deepest regret I learned of the death of Theresa McGarry, Killamaun, Mohill who died in the care of the doctors, nurses and staff at Sligo General Hospital on January 24th 2013. She was predeceased by her husband Pat many years ago. RIP.
Theresa was a loving wife and mother, sister, granny, auntie and loyal friend. She was a lady of deep faith whom it was always a joy to meet. She had a wealth of knowledge from yesteryear and we shall miss that great humour and meeting her out and about.
Her removal took place to St. Patrick’s Church, Mohill on Friday evening and was representative of all sections of the community as was her Requiem Mass on Saturday which was a celebrate of Theresa’s life and the lovely music added to the solemnity of this sad occasion.
Our sympathy is with her sons, daughters, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, sisters, grandchildren and family circle. “Those we love remain with us for love itself lives on and cherished memories never die because a loved one’s gone”. May her dear soul Rest in Peace. “Go raigh leaba aici i measc na naomh”.
The people of Mohill wish to join with me in sympathising with the family and friends of the late Helen McDonnell (Reynolds), formerly of Crossdrumman, Gorvagh who died in Skerries last week and who was prayed for at all Masses in Mohill last weekend. Prayers were also offered for the repose of the soul of Anne Duffy (O’Donnell), formerly from Breandrum, Gorvagh who died in Birmingham recently. May their souls and all the souls of our faithful departed Rest in Peace. “To live on in the hearts of those who love you is not to die”.
Leitrim County Library has made six “Past and Present” postcards to celebrate the year of the Gathering. Mohill is one of the town featured. The idea is to send one to their friends aboard to invite them to come to Lovely Leitrim. They are available to purchase for 20c in six libraries around the county. It is hoped people will buy them to send to relatives living outside Ireland. Hopefully there will be a great gathering of Leitrim diaspora this year. Bring them home to Lovely Leitrim. We extend a cead mile failte to all.
