“Thank You” from St. Vincent de Paul
Mohill St Vincent de Paul would like to thank everyone who contributed to their Annual Collection in December. €4,094 was raised at church gate collections in Mohill, Gortletteragh, Cornageeha, Fearglass, Bornacoola, Cloonturk, Gorvagh, Eslin, Annaduff. This very generous response along with donations of over €2,000 from individuals and groups, enabled us to assist over 100 families this Christmas in Mohill and the surrounding parishes. We are also very grateful for the assistance of the many volunteer collectors who made this collection possible. Mohill SVP can be contacted on 087 - 6776391.
Congratulations to Dermot Kennedy, Breanross, and Karen McGarry, Mohill, who recently announced their engagement.
St. Brigid’s Day
Friday is the first of February, the feast of St. Brigid. There will be Mass in Gortletteragh at 7pm, followed by the rosary and novena for vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Candles for Candlemass Day will be blessed before Mass and St. Brigid’s crosses will be blessed after Mass. There is no scarcity of rushes so use your school talent and get to work making your St. Brigid’s crosses. The sick will be visited on Friday morning by Fr. John Quinn.
The death took place on Wednesday last, at Aras Carolan nursing home, Mohill, of Mary Ann Campbell, Clonohill. Removal of her remains took place last Friday evening to Fearglass Church. Her son, Fr. Michael celebrated her funeral Mass on Saturday and afterwards she was laid to rest in Gortletteragh cemetery. We tender deepest sympathy to her sons Fr. Michael (PP Abbeylara), J.P. and Raymond, her sister Kathleen, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. May she rest in peace.
