Aughakillymaude Historical Society meeting
The Febuary meeting of the historical society is on Tuesday 12th at 8.30pm sharp will be an interesting and exicting place to be when an almost forgotten writer and folklorist of the early 1940s and 1950s wrote many stories which were puplished in the local papers. Eddie Anderson from the townland of Cornagun in Kinawley, Swanlinbar area. Son of the local schoolmaster who apart from being a teacher was the local educated man so to speak amongst other things was instrumental in starting up of Kinawley creamery. Eddie, his son, appears to have had above average education for the time started writing in the early 1940s about life and times in the area, all of this being done by oil and candle light. His grandaughter Iona Anderson-McGoldrick having researched his material and old newspapers of the time and with modern technology hopes to bring this intertesting storey to life. A good night awaits you in Aughakillymaude on Tuesday, 12th February, usual cup of tea and chat.
