Bornacoola GAA Fashion Show
Preparations are in place for the Fashion Extravaganza of the year at Lough Rynn Castle on Friday, 19th April at 8 PM. Bornacoola GAA Club members are getting ready to strut their stuff all for a good cause. This event is the start of an ambitious fundraising plan of action that the club are undertaking. Fashions will be supplied by Bonnie B, Kabuki, Kenny’s of Longford, Image, Jack & Jones, Athlone Town Centre, Wallis, Alice - Anne, Bridal, Shoes by Prima Donna, Accessories by Luna, and stunning headpieces by Jennifer Wrynne Creations. Models will be our own home grown talent! Many of the faces will be familiar, but be prepared for a few surprises! Music on the night with Tom Moran, Wine & Cheese reception and raffle. Tickets are priced at only €10 and are now available.
We send our congratulations to Bornacoola and Leitrim footballer Mr Gary McCloskey and Miss Bernice Heslin, Gortlettragh who were married on Saturday last in St. Mary’s Church, Gortlettragh with their wedding reception afterwards at Lough Rynn Castle. We would like to send our condolences to the family and friends of the late Kathleen McAslan, nee Hackett, Phoenix Arizona and formerly from Gubagraphy, Dromod who died recently in Phoenix Arizona. Mass for the repose of her soul will be celebrated in Cloonturk Church at 9.30 am on Sunday next April 14th. May she Rest in Peace
We would like to send our condolences to the family and friends of the late Elizabeth better known as Lizzie Donlon, Ballagh, Newtownforbes who died on April 2nd last at the Shannon Lodge Nursing Home, Rooskey. Lizzie was laid to rest in Newtownforbes cemetery on Thursday last. May she Rest in Peace.
A note to hand from my neighbour Seamus Duignan to let you know that County Longford Scuba divers Search and rescue unit are holding a “Fundraising Cycling Sportive” on Sunday, April 28th next. The cycle will start at their clubhouse on the Ballinalee Road, Longford at 10.30am and the cycle will be for distances of 80km, 50km, or 20km which ever the cyclist prefers. Bornacoola Youth Club
Youth club is back this week after the Easter break. We will be back on Thursday evening with teen drop in from half six to nine and Friday night with senior club from seven to half eight and teen club from a quarter to nine to a quarter past ten. The junior leaders had a day out with other junior leaders from all over Leitrim and Mary Taylor from NYC last Thursday a great day was had by all. Our annual church gate collection will take place shortly your support would be greatly appreciated. There are some great ideas for up coming events before the end of the club year we willupdate you as the time gets closer.

Bornacoola GAA club draw
The following were the winners in the March draw in the Bornacoola gaa club draw, thanks to all who supported; €100 Shane Conroy; €20 each Caroline Beirne c/o Declan Conboy, Liam Rabbitte, Gerry Mulligan, Tony Fagan, Aidan Hackett. Bottle of Wine sponsored by Copper was won by Clodagh Reynolds.
No joy for Bornacoola’s Question Time team who were defeated in the Connacht Finals of Scór on Saturday in Carrick-on-Shannon; however our congratulations to Leitrim winners from St Mary’s, Sean O’Heslin’s and Fenagh, all of whom progress to the All Ireland Finals in Derry. Leitrim also captured the Cormac McGill memorial shield for the best County in Connaught.

The North West Simon Community would like to sincerely thank all those who assisted and supported out recent church gate collection in Cloonturk and Bornacoola. Total collected in Cloonturk €204.10 and in Bornacoola €160.02. Money raised goes towards preventing homelessness in counties Leitrim, Sligo and Donegal.

Sports Complex at 8pm….Hi to Lorna and all her Clan who we were socialising with over the weekend….Great day on Saturday last at Gary and Bernice’s wedding Lough Rynn castle a wonderful venue....Body attack continues every Thursday at Bornacoola Community Centre at 9pm....Bornacoola will be organising their “Gathering” celebrations in conjunction with their Lough Rynn festival which will be on the last weekend of August.
