The death has taken place of Mr. Tommy P. Fox, Aughakilbrask. We extend our deepest sympathy to his wife Kathleen, son Adrian and daughter Margaret and his sister Mrs. Bridget Wynne. The funeral took place on Wednesday 13th March. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Sympathy expressed

The death has taken place of Mrs. Mary Teresa Mulvey, Aghagrania. We extend our deepest sympathy to her husband Michael, children Rosemary (Foley), Frankie, Patricia (McLoughlin), Teresa (McMorrow), Rita (Feeney) and to her grandchildren. Mrs. Mulvey is also survived by her brother in law Mr. Packie Mulvey. Her funeral took place on Thursday 14th. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.

Community Alert meeting

A meeting is scheduled to take place at 8pm on tomorrow Thursday 21st March 2013 in Aras Padraig in Drumshanbo with a view to re establishing the concept of Community Alert and Neighborhood Watch in Drumshanbo and the surrounding areas. Supt Furlong from Manorhamilton Garda Station will attend the meeting and the Crime Prevention Officer for the Sligo/Leitrim Garda Division will give a presentation on Crime Prevention. Ms Vanessa Clarke from Muintir na Tire will also attend. It is important that people attend the meeting particularly those who have an interest in being co coordinators in their local areas.

Leitrim GAA Supporters Club Draw

There are still a number of Leitrim Supporters tickets available at €40 each. Funds raised goes to support the Leitrim county teams from Under 16 to Senior. Tickets may be purchased from John Joe Cullen, Paschal Mooney or Sean Wynne.

Leitrim’s Youth Factor

Leitrim’s Youth Factor will take place on May 24th in Mohill Canon Donohue Hall. There are four Categories, Music, Song, Dance and Performance/Drama. Each Club/Café can submit entries in total, 2 in Post Primary and 2 in Primary School. Full Details available from your local Youth Leaders. Youth Activity Day on the 3rd of April as part of the Junior clubs Healthy lifestyle project with Leitrim’s Sports Partnership will take place in the Mayflower from 2pm to 4pm. On April 5th The Base Post Primary Group will have their Easter Trip and Activity Day. Junior Leaders Activity Day is on the 4th of April. One Day First Aid Training will be coming up in April. Date to be confirmed. Let us know if any of any Youth Leaders are interested in attending.

Community Games

We had great numbers from the Drumshanbo, Drumcong and Dowra areas at Leitrim county final in handwriting, art and model making in Carrick-on-Shannon in the last week. Winners from our area were: Handwriting: Enda Lowe 3rd. Art: Under 10 (girl)- Eadaoin Lee 1st, Under 10 (boy)- Iarlaith O’Brien 1st, Danny McWeeney 2nd. Under 12 (girl) Johanna Deitz 3rd. Under 12 (boy) Dylan Easterbrook 2nd. Model Making:Under 12 (boy) Barry McWeeney 2nd. Under 14 (boy) David Gallagher 1st. Our three first winners Eadaoin Lee, Iarlaith O’Brien and David Gallagher go thru. to the national finals in Athlone at the end of May. Congratulations to all our winners and best of luck to out three finalists.

Gospel choir charity performance

The Gospel Choir from Virginia, Co. Cavan will perform a wonderful concert in St. Mary’s Church Killenummery on Palm Sunday March 24th at 7pm sharp and all the proceeds will go directly to the Hospice in Sligo.

Senior Citizens

Senior Citizens will meet on this afternoon (Wednesday) at 2pm in Áras Phádraig for the weekly chat and a cuppa. New members always welcome.

25 card drive

The popular Allen Gaels 25 card Drive continues every Sunday evening in the Clubhouse at 8.30pm. Everybody welcome. Refreshments served.

A night with a difference

‘Strictly Come Dancing’ (where you the audience will vote for your favourite couple) for the 1st ‘LEITRIM Crystal’ Perpetual Trophy, also 2nd and 3rd prizewinners. ‘Musical Bingo’ starting at 9pm sharp followed by our dancers on Saturday, 6th April next at the Lough Allen Hotel & Spa, Drumshanbo.
