Cloone’s Got Talent
Our “Cloone’s Got Talent” night on Easter Sunday, March 31st in McKeon’s, Cloone was a resounding success and already there are requests for a re-run later on in the eyar as there were additional acts that couldn’t be fitted in on the night. A packed house enjoyed Brendan Brennan’s humour, background music and amusing introductions to the items on the programme. Contributors on the night were Monica Reilly, Bernadette Beirne, Cloone Choir, Maureen Heslin, the Huston family, the Keegan sisters, Diane Beirne/Cox, Sam Mitchell, Joe Reynolds, Michael Solon and a comedy sketch by Seamus Tiernan, Shane Tiernan and Angela Cunningham.
The results of a raffle which took place were as follows: A painting presented by Anne Guilfoyle was won by Maureen Heslin, a leg of lamb sponsored by Hughie McGovern was won by Mary Mitchell, a bottle of whiskey sponsored by Evelyn McKeon was won by Kathleen Shortt, a bottle of whiskey sponsored by Oliver Higgins was won by Tommy Joe Mulvey, a bottle of Bailey’s Liquor presented by Betty Foley was won by Mary Mitchell, a bottle of wine sponsored by Betty Foley was won by Sean McGovern, a box of sweets sponsored by Mary Joe Doherty was won by mary Donohoe, a box of sweets sponsored by Emer O’Donnell was won by Evelyn McVeigh. €20 sponsored by Evelyn McKeon was won by Joe Murray. The Chairman Seamus Tiernan thanked everyone for their support and all the sponsors for the spot prizes. He also thanked the McKeon family for the venue, Brendan Brennan for continuity and the committee for organising the night.
Our annual fun night took place in the Centre on the night and it was very enjoyable. We thank all who supported us in any way with spot prizes of gifts of food etc. Tommy Hands and Michael Moran played wonderful music. Zaikil and Nour Stevens for their musical act. It was enjoyed by everyone. Thanks to both of you.
Our Craft Classes continue each Monday night 8:30 to 9:30pm. Patchwork classses will kick in later in the month. A date is to be arranged. Everyone welcome, member or not. Come along and enjoy the evening. Two members went to Glenfarne Federation. Bus was full. It was a great night. Credit to the bus driver who was very helpful. Our next meeting will be held on May 14th at 8:30pm. Come along and bring a friend.
Bornacoola GAA fashion show
Preparations are in place for the Fashion Extravaganza of the year at Lough Rynn Castle on Friday, 19th April at 8pm. Bornacoola GAA Club members are getting ready to strut their stuff all for a good cause. This event is the start of an ambitious fundraising plan of action that the club are undertaking. Fashions will be supplied by Bonnie B, Kabuki, Kenny’s of Longford, Image, Jack & Jones Athlone Town Centre, Wallis, Alice - Anne, Bridal, Shoes by Prima Donna, Accessories by Luna, and stunning headpieces by Jennifer Wrynne Creations. Models will be our own home grown talent! Many of the faces will be familiar, but be prepared for a few surprises! Music on the night with Tom Moran. Wine & Cheese reception and raffle.
